yes in theory its possible for a car to spin due to this as that will literally cause an imbalance between centripetal and centrifugal forces when the car's taking a bend.... but on a straight line track it will not spin

As a mechanic, I can say that the hydroplaning did cause the spin, not the wheel bearing.
If a bearing was found to be defective, I would replace it, because it has a different set of safety issues
(starts out as an annoying noise on curves, then the wheel gets play, and you get a vibration - and if you still haven't replaced it yet, I have seen, in extreme cases, the hub and wheel assembly come off the car while driving) DON"T WAIT THAT LONG!

I think it could. OR in a way it has caused uneven wear on the tires making one aquaplane more than the other three leaving the car totally unbalanced hence the spin.
Best advice fit new bearing and check all the tires and compare and make sure all are evenly worn.

Do you mean defected as in wheel bearing has left its home country of origin (ie the wheel).
OR
Do you mean defective (the wheel bearing is not whole or complete - it has a flaw in it - it is not perfect)
Any which way I would say the mechanic or the garage should be able to advise if this will cause the problem you have recently experienced.
Good Luck - Safe Driving.

It certainly won't have helped, though anything can happen if you aquaplane. I'd be inclined to make sure you have decent tyres as well as have the bearing changed.

With side pressure on the wheel bearing if it is worn it could make that wheel jam enough to cause a management steering problem.

I think you'll find it was the aquaplaning that caused it.
