Motrin is good and so is Advil soft gel tablets. They get into the system very quickly so the pain relief is faster.
Also take a hot bath with 2c. of dissolved Epsom salts and soak for 30 minutes. This will help relax the muscles and ease the pain.

1- exercise is the best medicine. Your pain shall vanish after 2/3 days of regular exercise So don't worry..
2- People have tendency to exercise till they tire. Avoid doing it for first few days or for a week. Do light initially.
3- Avoid any medicine. If at all you are not able to bear it- pl apply some pain relieving creams or sprays, what ever you have. Light massage of stressed muscles with some vegetable oil not only relax the muscles but it adds extra strength

I think more important than finding a cure for tonight is to change your exercise habits so it doesn't happen again. Stretch before AND after your workout, and drink lots of water throughout and after. This will keep the potassium out, which will keep your muscles from tightening. For the immediate fix, alternate cold and hot on the affected muscles, and take two ibuprofen.

Well hello my long lost twin! I do not recommend you take ANY RX drugs for any maladies as these only treat the symptoms not cure the root cause. If you are having these or any other symptoms for more than two weeks I strongly suggest you see a Naturopath doctor in your area and visit Mercola.com. In the meanwhile take a hot bath, drink some mint tea or chew on some mint leaves as this alleviates pain.
Namaste, Diana.

Warm up/warm down and hot bath with a slight motion of the affected muscles is the best course. Taking painkillers isn't really worth the money - Leave it for headaches.

One of the reasons you may be getting these muscle pains may be that you are not warming up/down enough after an excersise session.
If not, you may be one of those people who are just a little more delicate than the rest of us! so i suggest and ibuprofen gel which you rub into the skin. It works fast and is alot less intrusive than taking pills every time you excersise.
Good luck and I hope you feel better soon! xxx

Tylenol is best for muscle pain. Ibuprofen blocks the prostaglandins that aid in muscle repair, which makes it great for period cramps, but not so great for the aftereffects of a good workout.
