Highly repressed sexually, they tend to get into kinky stuff.
Ask Freud about the logic of that.

No, it is not a coinidence. Many "religious leaders" have used the Bible as a method of control instead of what it was intended for: a guidebook to get through this life. In their efforts to control the masses, they have enforced certain restraints that are not always biblical.
The truth of the matter is we are sexual beings and we require an outlet for sexual expression. Of course, that is part of the reason the institution of marriage was established.
So when you force a body to ignore or repress its natural expression, that body will force expression on it's own and usually in an unhealthy way.
Where Church leaders are concerned: a lot of the repression is just a public face. Many are married and so should have an outlet for sexual expression. However when they try to appear pious and above the need to engage in sexual activity as a show the their "flock" all too often what's goin on in the background is secret affairs. A church leader that is happily married and is not ashamed to express sexually within the confines of marriage will not be so easily tempted to have secret rendezvous.
Where priests are concerned: well.. we don't really need to go there do we... suffice to say that allowing priests to marry COULD save some young lives from years of emotional torment.

Some church leaders - many is way too strong a word.
It's not exclusive to members of the clergy - politicians, boy scout leaders, teachers - and these are only the ones that make the press. Other private citizens arrested on the same charges don't make the news.
Clergy get the biggest headlines because we expect the most from them, and so the gap is the greatest. But it's unfair to say this is true for "many" of them.

I think that in the past, molesters were drawn to the priesthood because they knew the church would cover for them. I didn't read all your other answers, but I noticed, at least one blamed the fact that they were required to be celibate for them molesting little boys. I have heard that many times before and I think that is just about as stupid an idea as you can have! First, nobody forced them into the priesthood. But the biggest reason I think it's a stupid idea is, if a man is attracted to adults of the opposite sex, celibacy is not going to change his orientation to same sex kids! I cannot imagine being attracted to little girls, because there is no man available! Also, if celibacy was their only problem, it would be easy for them to sneak around with women and not get caught. So don't fall for that "celibacy is not natural"claptrap excuse.

No , the part of the brain that is connected to the sex drive is also closely realted to the part of religios experience . Scientists have actually located the God spot . think of the amount of saints in the Hagriography that have in some way be connected with sex ,
Often Female matyrs were raped or sent to Brothels because they thought it was against the Gods to sacrifice a virgin and of course all that slef scourging that goes on talk about the Devils of Loudon. there wsas dont you think a prponderance on sexual matters in the church half way between agony and ecstasy I am studying religious painting of the quatro cent o and it is quite clear there

Is it a coincidence that men of churches have been arrested for sex crimes? Hmmm *scratching head*
All I have to say about this is: Men will be men. Men are human. Priests are men and priests are HUMAN.
We all have sexual urges! But, priests are not allowed to act on sexual urges, so some of them have become assholes who preyed upon kids to get their jollies.
If priests were allowed to get married and have sexual relationships with willing adult participants, then most of the child rape would be wiped out of the catholic churches.
But just because these men(priests) are not allowed to have sexual relations, does not give them the right to take it out on poor, innocent little kids. They are wrong and they need to be punished for their sins/crimes.
But, who else thinks the same way as me? Who else thinks that priests and nuns Should be allowed to marry and have relationships?
Cheers

The more Devoted a person is to the Divine, the heavier, stronger and more powerful will the adversary's temptation be. If a person is but lack lustre devotee, the dark ones wouldnt even bother coz, they are negligible.'
Its the serious ones who want to reach the Divine, that get the worst of tests... and obviously, if they fail.... the Dark ones rejoices and the Failed one can then realised their faith was not as strong as their Egos and Desires and thus, learns true Humility in the process.

Demagoguery is the fundamental driver of religious proselytizing. Demagogues seek power over others.
Henry Kissinger (former American Secretary of State under Richard Nixon) observed that power is the ultimate aphrodisiac.

in reference to priests. the fact that these men must remain celibate goes completely against human nature. the basis of life as i understand it, is to be fruitful and multiply is it not? How is it that god made this edict(did he not ?) and the catholic church completely ignores it ? I think living life as a priest for some, twists them and this is the result. I may be wrong but but this is how I see it.
