When people ask questions why do some simple people insist on wasting there own time by writing smart, rude or thoughtless answers. I often wonder do these people lead such sad lives that they have nothing better to do than be on here answering questions with smart unuseful answers. Why dont they go an get a life or better still if there that sad just go and crawl in to a dark hole and be negative by yourself. No wonder the world is so negative with people like that in it!!

obviously i've touched a sore spot with some people, abvioulsy everyone is intitled to an opinion but when the answer has no relevance to the question being asked becasue it's more of an insult...whats the point in a person wasting there time to do that...the whole point of this site is to ask or answer so unless you have a question to ask or have had an experience to answer and give some good advice....why bother. i just dont get why you'd waste your time. My question was not intented for any one person inparticular.

do some people have "such sad lives" that they get annoyed this easily and then feel the need to write a really long question about it?!

I agree some people answer in a really rude manner which I do not agree with at all.
But you can't blame someone for having a little joke that could be interpreted correct Can you. I seem to get violation notices for answering in a manner which someone didn't like the way it was said! I may have been smart or something but I was right!
If I want to put a little personality and maybe let some people say oh yeah that's true then I'm gonna do it because when I read those answers I smile and then read on for more.
I think you should go and crawl under a hole for being not only ignorant but also rude in this question. You can't fight fire with fire which is exactly what you are doing.

that's just your opinion, personally i don't think any question is stupid. this is a question and answer site, anyone can answer any question they way they feel like it. that doesn't mean its going to be acceptable to everyone else. the only person who should be concerned with the answers, is the person who asks the question. and as far as people wasting their time, its there time. obviously you must have taken a considerable amount of your time reading peoples answers but its your time. speaking of rude or thoughtless telling someone to go crawl in a dark hole by themselves is not very up lifting statement. maybe its that dark hole that there are in that this site offers away to get out . Rome wasn't built in a day and people have to be taught manners and so on. everybody does not get the same teachers. i sure at one time or another in ever persons life they have said something rude, crude, abusive , mean , nasty, thoughtless, or with a blatant disregard for other peoples feelings, but if we had to get rid of everybodys short comings there wouldn't be any body left on the planet to communicate with you.

Well, there are two basic types of questions on this forum.
1. Looking for a factual answer to a somewhat academic problem.
2. Looking for advice, opinions, or shared personal stories.
The second type is always going to have a degree of answers perceived as rude, or annoying. People love to hand out advice (and not spare the horses). It is the human condition. Some are being playful, some being honest, some being purposefully rude, others hoping for a laugh. And yes, all of us must be somewhat bored on occasion, yourself included, to spend our time "answering", unless we just plain enjoy being an unpaid Ann Landers.

This question has no answer, coz with all the analysis of parental and environmental influences (the usual excuse for non-conformists), what's offensive to one person may not be offensive to another. A previous answer given referred to rude behaviour being associated with people that have "nothing better to do than to sit and play on the computer". As an online gamer running a guild and speaking to people from all over the world on a voice server; that comment is offensive to me. I doubt however, others read that answer and found the person 'rude'.

Good question. I think it's the anonymity, it frees people from the normal polite constraints. I find it quite scary how nasty people are on here, but at the same time, there's a kind of fascination too. This is what people really think, this is what they are like when you don't know their names, where they live or what they look like.
I'm coming to the end of my relationship with YA, and the shallow viciousness on here is one reason, But it's been illuminating, because I've always thought most people are good at heart, and now I'm not so sure.

Yes there are lots of people like this. I find it quite shocking when I read what some people actually write on here, especially to the genuine questions. It scares me that there are such cold hearted people.
what satisfaction do they get for receiving two points for a horrible answer, when in the process they have upset someone?

It's a generational thing in many cases. There are alot of young smart allecks here, because of their anonymous ids will say things they'd never say to a person's face.
Then it's also a culture of mean out there, especially with younger people under 40, they think it's cool to belittle and be snide. They're insecure so it's easier to look down on someone else to make yourself look bigger and better.
And some of it's just plain ignorance, lack of experience, lack of manners and civility.

That's what I want to know.
People probably, as you mentioned, seriously lack lives and it puts good use to the saying "misery loves company".
I often wonder why peole ASK such useless questions too and get SO many responses, and then when an intelligent question is asked...nobody can be bothered to help.

If a question is an honest question and the person is seeking an answer then by all means they deserve an answer that would be beneficial to them.
If the question is an off the wall nonsense question then it deserves an off the wall absurd answer. That way everybody gets a chuckle.

I can imagine how touched u are. I too have for long wondered about this. Sure, there are so many irresposible people on here who are frantically trying to reduce the site to a joke instead a place to share ideas and knowledge.
