And Jesus answered and said to them, "Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, `Be taken up and cast into the sea,' it will happen. "And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive." (Matthew 21:21-22 NAS)
Could you move mountains with prayer? If not does this mean Jesus lied?

The intention is true. Take it as poetry. A lover says "darling, I will do anything for you"; obviously they mean there is nothing I would not try to do, within my capabilities and within the circumstances, assuming everything else is equal, etc, etc.

Jesus was saying to fisherman come disciples, there is nothing you can not do if you put your mind and will to it. If enough people believe in a cause and make it a priority, they will accomplish it. Miners move mountains every year. We have traveled to the moon and sent craft outside the solar system because enough people believed it could be done and they believed in their ability to do it.

If you simply close your eyes and say; God Move this mountain, or lift this pen off the desk, it will not happen. But if you pray for Gods help to fulfill your heart's desire and do all in your power to work towards it even refining what it is you really want, then I believe you will find satisfaction. To put it in the reverse, if you have no sense of what you want or where you want to go in this life, you will get nowhere.

Doubt will rob you of life, in faith life is given unlimited potential. What Jesus said was a profound truth.

The parable simply means having faith in whatever you do. When you have faith, you can achieve things that you 'think' is impossible. Facts always comes first before faith. The fact is we can never move mountains as we said so. Imagine earthquake everywhere is everyone were to move mountains. Unless you are anointed like Moses when he met God in the fire bush, you will not be able to part the red sea. When God anoints you, it became a 'fact' that you can move mountains. So do pray for anointing and guidance in everything you do. Have faith that all 'impossibilities' can be done.

If I am not wrong mountains would be the obstacles in our lives, heavy things that look unmovable, could be anything. You would only know because you feel the verse strongly, or going through something the enemy loves to do, bring confusion.

God only told one man to walk on water, not everyone else... Certain things are for certain individuals, all of our faith is tested differently...I believe in prayer does work miracles in peoples lives.

By where I live there was a fortune telling business for many years, which had a strong hold in the area. Apartments where I live at and other homes in the area, you would see crazy things going on everyday, bad stuff happening to people, as if everyone was into Satanism. I seen hurtful things happening to often, bible study took place in this home. We started praying, it all made sense, that place was shut down, closed for business. Now you see a much more calm environment, and healthy. No more heavy drugs, marriage separations, divorces, drug addiction, indecent exposure, hallucination, strange things happening you see no more. Peace came upon that area...

I started praying for a bar near by, just could not stand the fact my husband would be there all the time he had an opportunity, there was prostitutes, drug pushing, just nasty... Mighty women of God in unity made that bar be closed for business, and fortune teller to be removed once and for all. Closed down! God is good and I knew when I moved into the city I did, things were going to start changing, why because I trust in my heavenly father, and worship him with my life...But I had to go through some deep fire, dark places to see God's work go into action, my life has changed so much for the better, and God knows my heart to me thats all that matters...

So the bar, and fortune telling place were mountains, and removed because of obidience to God's work...

Prayer changes things, not right away might take years, but God knows what he is doing, everything is in his timing not ours...

It's true, but there is a catch. The Bible says that "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of G-d."

So in order to build the kind of faith that can move mountains you've got to dig deep into the word of G-d and your faith will be built up.

Testimony, I had a pulmonary embolism and G-d healed it in two days. It normally takes 6 months.

FAITH, IT DOES THE BODY GOOD.

Faith is quite a motivational force for some people.. I do not believe that they could just cause the mountain to do unrealistic things through sheer thought, but they could use such faith and inspiration as to move mountains through other means.

That verse is true firgurtively and literally. But you have to do things according to what God wants not what you want. So why you could move a mountain physically with prayer God has not given details for anyone to do that.

I have faith but I do not have that much of faith that I can move the mountains. Jesus never lied. : )

But I was praying for more proof for the people about the reliability of the Bible, and I was told that the grave of Herod's has been found. : )

Doubt is our worst adversary.

It is doubt that keeps us from walking on water.

It is doubt that keeps us from healing the sick.

I can believe with all my heart and lay everything I have at the foot of the Cross, but its that one little inkling of doubt is all it takes to blemish the faith that I so terribly wish I had.

I have seen great things happen because I prayed even though I had my doubts that God would do anything. But then some things are just not going to happen. Its all in Gods timing.

Jesus did not lie. The thing is, when you are active in the will of God and in His Spirit, your desires and His will line up. You don't ask outrageous things that are out of His will. You tend to make appeals of God that fit in with what He is in process with you already. If He is requiring you to have faith in something great in extent, then it is alright to have mustard-seed faith! He is still in it!

Just keep believing and keep the faith in God and you will continue to go far!! May God Bless You!!

Jesus did not lie, If we have faith through him all things are possible.
God dose not do things for a magic trick, there has to be a Godly motivation behind what we ask for, If it is not for Gods will it won't happen.

Yes indeed we can move mountians. You are thinking of a literal mountian. Maybe Jesus was speaking about spiritual mountians. As we oftern but head long into them in life. And thru pray move them aside. But indeed we have power and authority to do such.
