It works. A major improvement.

POSITIVES:

Beautiful interface that works.

Stability.

Less prone to freezing up.

More efficient use of memory and other resources.

Direct X 10, which will enable games to offer better graphics.

Lots of built-in utilities and games.

Far, far better search and file management.

More informative every step of the way.

NEGATIVES:
Lots of editions to choose from - avoid Home Basic at all costs

Requires at least 1 GB RAM and a 256 MB graphics card for its true high-end interface to work

Still prone to freezing up and slowing down

No REAL advancement in terms of usability and technology over XP

Still no games to take advantage of Direct X 10

Expensive.

Some hardware and software for XP does not work on Vista.

RESULT:

If you are buying a new PC, go for it. If you have XP, wait a while before upgrading.

I'd rather stick with Mac OS X Leopard... because Windows Vista will someday release Windows Vista Service Pack 2 or somethin' like that...

I would wait till Vista is more COmpatible. They are still working out alot of bugs , and alot of software companys havent caught up with Vista, So good idea to wait a lil while (especially if you like Gaming)

In my opinion it is a stable os. More than xp. And of course is better looking. But it has many problems. A lot of programs that worked fine in xp they do not in xp. I think that it is too early for someone to turn to vista. But on the other hand i liked it very much.

DONT BUY IT YET, especially if you are used to Win XP, you will be lost, too many programs have compatibility issues with Vista, too many hardware doesnt have vista drivers, and anyway it is still very expensive, doesnt have multilingual interface support, except of VISTA ULTIMATE with price hitting 400US$, and many of the PCs cannot run Vista because of its high requierments. and anyway XP is still great, so why to switch ?? by the way, i am a system builder, IT professional, I have both XP, and Vista, so dont think i didnt try both !!!!

In my opinion, it is more stable than Windows XP. And, of course, it looks more beautiful.

But, compared to other OS like Mac or Linux, Vista really falls behind.

If you value innovation, new technology and you can afford it, Vista is a great buy. If you're a business user, the justification for the additional cost just isn't there quite yet (with a few exceptions).
