You want to avoid (and I stress AVOID) foods high in acid or spices - meaning hot spices. No coffee, no foods with tomatos, no citrus. No mexican or cajun foods.

You want foods that have a high base to them like anything dairy or carbs as they're easier on the stomach.

I recommend taking something like Pepcid, Protonix, Prevacid or Tagament.

Up until about 15 years ago doctors thought ulcers could be both affected and improved by diet. ' Ulcer diets ' per say have now been thrown away with the leeches. Spicy food, which was said to make things worse, actually reduces the problem, and drinking milk, said to make things better, actually turned out to increase acid levels and make things worse!

85% of all ulcers are know known to be linked with an infection in the stomach with an organism called helicobacter Pylorii. This can be detected with a blood test (85% accurate) or a 'breath test' which is nearly 100%. If the patient tests positive a cure is likely using what is called triple therapy.

If you don't have the but, maintenance acid lowering therapy will relieve your symptoms and let you eat what you like.
