A speaker wired in reverse polarity will work perfectly and sound the same as when it's wired with the correct polarity. The problem comes when you have two speakers wired in opposite polarity. This creates a situation where the speakers are playing out of phase with each other. It won't damage anything, but it can have a very bad effect on the sound quality.

What happens is that it will still work , but the speakers will be out of phase. What that means is that when you would normally hear audio in stereo, it will miss whatever channel that is out of phase.

Ever hear a song, and the lyrics would alternate from the left speakers to the right speakers. When its out of phase, you won't hear the music in that fashion.

if you look at your speakers when the bass hits they both should extend outward thats in phase, when one is out of phase it pulls instead of pushes creating static and only half of the basswave of normal polarity
