Wittenburg, Germany - where Luther hung the 95 Theses
Salisbury Cathedral, UK - one of the most gorgeous medeival cathedrals. Celebrates its 750th anniversary next year.
Westminster Abbey, UK - Hundreds of tombs, coronations, fantastic history.
Cathedral at Koln, Germany - again, gorgeous ancient cathedral. Supposedly holds the bones of the 3 wise men.
Weiskirche, Bavaria, Germany - the paintings/murals throughout the church are unbelievable. Small church in a meadow. Masterpiece of Bavarian Roccoco.

I believe fenian is thinking of Canterbury Cathedral. Others include Notre Dame in Paris, St. Paul's in London, Sagrada Familia in Barcelona and others. Haga Sophia in Istanbul was originally built as a church, then became a mosque and is now a museum.
