I agree with the advice of weaning and moderation. I cut out the meat, the dairy and eggs and large quantities of pure junk after I learned what was and wasn't in them and from where they came. Quite disgusting. Sure, after a lifetime of cheese and meat and white bread and other forms of junk it wasn't easy, but I've been vegetarian for two years and vegan for a year and a half.

Earlier in my pregnancy (I'm at the end of my fifth month), I craved cheese. I was at the grocery store and the deli counter had little cubes of American cheese out for samples. I took one chewed it and realized what I was doing. I found a trash can and deposited it. However, just the taste was enough for my craving.

I hope this helps.

you can tell your self that with the food in your hand already and ready to put in your mouth, "this is bad for me".take a small bite (enough that you will faint until next meal) then put it down straight to the garbage bin. If you feel you are craving for a certain food, get the food and have a bite, then say, "this is so good but, it's bad for me." , then put it down straight to the garbage bin. Drink water and stop drinking soda. In the party, do the same thing over and over and over everytime the crave is present. Don't try to eat something that is not your food yet. You have to set your stomach in a path (like training yourself to get ready for eating good food). Gradually, your brain will be set to not to crave for the wrong food when you're hungry. By just biting with the bad food, your hunger and appetite will be adjusted, then when it comes to that, introduce healthy food only, stay away with sweet foods also, and deep fried foods (fried rice, fried chicken), and less meat, less bread 'coz it has oil in it. This will take 5 - 6 months. When you achieve the goal (your goal is to naturally dislike fatty foods) by this time, you lose some weight already, stick with it. Don't reward yourself with one bite of fatty foods bacause you're risking it again. You are not completely healed at this time. Now When you started eating good food, say this to your self, "this is good for me," then start eating the good food without any guilt.

I found out years ago you can eat anything you want to as long as it is in moderation, this rule I have applied to myself and gone from a size 18 and stayed now at a 10 for 8 years.
It's not and easy thing to do but discipline is the keyword here
I also quit smoking as of Oct 3 06, I had one bad chest pain and that is all it took for me, this is another discipline I have learned and also this was cold turkey. It can be acheived if you really want it that bad.
Good Luck

Have smaller portions of the bad foods, then gradually wean yourself off them. It's all about will power. Sometimes it just kicks in and it's so easy, other times it's a real struggle. Often when you're exercising regularly, it's easier to be strong with food - I guess because you've spent so much time exercising that you don't want to undo all the good you've done. Hang in there, don't be too hard on yourself, reward yourself with other things besides food (magazines, massages, movies etc). Good luck.

I read some article that said if u could stand an excruciating week of dieting you can get rid of craving forever. It said the craving for food is caused by refined carbs. So for a week cut out ALL carbs - sugar, flour, etc - from your diet. Apparently after this week in hell you will crave no more and all you have to do is eat other food groups - protein etc - but you will be able to control the urge to eat with ease

It's all mental and following a routine, you must commit yourself to a goal to have the determination. For me, it was about losing a lot of weight and I wouldn't have gotten the determination if my friend had not recommended me to a program.
