Hi Fez
When somebody gives you a pamphlet or book about their religion what do you do?
Do you read it? Throw it out?
Most of the time I read what I have been given to see what is being said. When I come across what JW's have given out I don't bother reading it. I have read a book I was given about the last days of Revelation on earth. It was a good read and I still have it my book shelf.
I mostly don't throw tracts out instead if they are good I'll leave them on a bus seat or a train seat for the next person who comes along to read when they are bored.
What if it is just laying there--do you take it to at least see what it says, even if it is just to find the 'errors'?
Yes I read it for the sake of it. I am always interested in different tracts as I have written a few myself and ma always looking for new ideas.
Do you give ppl litterature?
I have been know to put tracts in letter boxes of people in their homes. This was a tract that I have written. I didn't get a big response to them but it was a really great tract and would have had its effect.
I hope this helped.

If I'm handed a pamphlet I'll say thanks and move along or make up some excuse and shut the door ASAP. I don't really want to get into a conversation about religion, as most who start the conversation already have very set views and don't really want to hear your side of anything.
Sometimes I'll take a pamphlet, depending on what sort of mood I'm in. Usually I just would like to see what the "competition" has to offer in terms of groups, enrichments, programs, etc.
I don't hand out literature and would never consider doing so as I don't feel I have the right to push what I believe on others.

I don't accept pamphlets as the Bible is my guide book and anything else falls short. Tracks are OK but since taking one may keep someone from hearing the truth about Jesus I would turn it down also so that it may get where it can do the most good.
I am not normally in a position to give out tracks.

I usually throw it out, unless its one of the ones from the Hare Krishnas, those have cool pictures in them. I especially hate the Christians ones that look like a folded up 5 or 10 dollar bill that people leave instead of a tip at restaurants. There is no way those will ever be effective, because whenever a waitress gets one, she wishes the person who gave it to her would go to hell.

I recieved the publication "Awake" in a parking lot while smoking a cigarette in my car while reading something out of 2 Kings. She handed me the 'magazine' while trying to avoid the odor of the cigarette. I was uncomfortable with the attempt to preach Jehovah's Witness stuff, but I as polite, took the magazine and told her, " Thank you."
When she was finished with her effort, she left. I never ead the thing. It was about poor people. But I didn't read it. I wasn't interested in the article for one, I am more interested in God. The poor will have me ready to help them, but I am not 'well off' myelf, so there is a reason for faith there, isn't there?

I read them. Fortunately, i have enough knowledge to know what is right and what isn't. The truth is a great thing to know about. I have scared lots of JWs and Mormons away!
I don't give out literature, it is unseemly to me. At least I can answer each with an intelligent question, that is good enough for me.

When somebody gives me some religious material then i accept it. Sometime i scan it and ask quick questions. Sometime if it is already known religion, i discuss their religion and then give the person good news of Jesus Christ in whom we have forgiveness and eternal hope.
When i see some literature lying in the waiting room or somewhere, i pick it and read. It is always helpful to learn about what others believe and why they believe so. Many times I found that some other faiths have reasonable explainations. We all call our FAITH as The Only Truth but that doesn't give us any right to call someone else' faith as FALSE because with the same scale you are judging your own faith as FALSE from others point of view. Bible teaches to use same scale for others which we use for ourselves. So when you talk faith, let others also use faith -their own faith.
I sometime distibute literature related to Jesus Christ. Sometime people accept sometime people reject. Sometime people act rudely... :) but for Jesus I don't mind such behaviour.
I think i answered all your questions...
In conclusion, be open to other religions but strengthen your own faith in Jesus Christ so that you will not slide.

I have read several zillion "tracts". I find them to be complete crap, written at a second grade level, to give to peeps who are mildly retarded (no offense). I have my own beliefs, arrived at through years of hardship, reading, and prayer. If I had to put my opinions/beliefs/theology into a piece of paper and force it on peeps, I'd have to consider myself a philosophical failure in the marketplace of ideas. So as of now, no I don't read it, yes I throw it out, I leave it lying there, and I don't give peeps literature.

I say "Thank you" and then I recycle it, like a good environmentalist.
I do not give people literature about my religion. Er, lack of religion. Whatever. Why would I feel the need to? I have respect for other people's beliefs, and I feel no need to convert anyone. If only all people had the same courtesy...

I take it, say thank you, look over it briefly out of curiosity, then throw it away if it doesn't interest me. I do not hand people literature. I think it's rather silly to do that. Most people will not change their religion due to one random pamphlet...
