Just as a note, we don't anymore, but I'm curious to see how many people still believe that we do.

I know there are people who claim your religion and practice it, but there are people who claim to be Jewish and pray to jesus, too. If the religious leaders say it's banned, those who do it are wrong, in your religion as well as mine:-)

Jason, I know as a rule most Mormons do not take more than one wife but there are those who do. Although the practice is not encouraged by the church. But I have asked an elder if circumstances happened to wipe out a lot of men would they think it necessary to bring the practice back and he said perhaps.

Why ought to He no longer have distinct better halves? He commanded mortal adult males to take distinct better halves and a number of His prophets suggested do it or you'd be damned. 3 modern-day Apostles are sealed to more effective than one lady. each and each and every of their better halves expects to be their goddess even as they change into gods in the subsequent existence. All Mormons believe in polygamy in the afterlife, it really is in the scriptures. The LDS merely stopped doing it on earth. in hassle-free words one stay spouse at a time.

I do know there are still some Mormons who practice it, or else you would not hear about the men on the news kidnapping young girls and "taking them as their wives." I do know that it is not generally accepted by most Mormons. It is my understanding that the LDS do not accept it anymore, but it is possible some of them do.

You don't. BUT...

Guy in my hometown and his son, started their own little colony. Wyn and Scott Brown, from Lovell Wyoming. They have quite a few wives now. Growing up they were normal mormons. Scott was a grade behind me in school. His sister and I were friends. He got out and...changed his mind. I guess once he decided on getting a few wives was the point he became "not a mormon."

They do and they do for a fact. Each and every year some of them get discovered and arrested or outted.

They have enclaves where they stash a family and then go to another family far away.

I used to live in such an enclave in the mountains

I saw it on TV a few decades ago. This man had 4 or 5 wives and they all took turns supporting one another in the raising of the kids.

According to many news shows and documentaries, you still do. Better send off a few letters to 20/20, Dateline NBC and 60 Minutes in order to update them.

My fiance used to be LDS, so I know that they don't. But people frequently ask how many wives he had before he left the church.
