I see so many "Christians" go around living their lives just like the rest of the world. They think they can do anything they want and then ask for forgiveness and all is good. That is not what grace is all about, Yes when we first come to know Jesus as our Savior, when we say the prayer of salvation every sin we had commited up to that point is gone. That does not cover future sins like many think, we must ask forgiveness for every sin after we commit it. Also if you sin thinking it is alright God will forgive me, you are playing with fire. That is called premeditated grace and it is tempting God, the Bible says "do not tempt the Lord thy God."
King David was a man who sinned a lot and yet was known as a man after Gods own heart. How can that be? He always wanted to please God and when he failed, he repented. David the sinner he was, was holy as God is holy.
In order to be holy you must live a truly repentant life.

There is a song (I can't remember the name) by Wayne Watson, that talks about I stepped a way from the fire for a minute and when I turned around I couldn't see the fire...And is very true...you step away from the Lord and the next thing you know you aren't close at all. Being Holy means not stepping away from our Fire...Being constantly renewed everyday....walking every day towards being more like Jesus our perfect example.

As you follow the Lord and want a deeper relationship with Him you are called to holiness. Being set apart and santicifed for the Lord. Yes Brother Stone you are right if you want to be holy you must repent if one doesn't repent as a Christian they phony or not genuine Christians.

Many people come to Christ on the premises that everything will be wonderful with no call to repentance. They make Jesus attractive and say come to Jesus He will bless and proposer you, not not everyone prospers and there is suffering and persecution as well. Great Post and God bless.

You said it, "Be ye therefore perfect, as your Father which art in Heaven is Perfect." Yes it is possible, by a quote from the same source, "Of myself I am nothing, the Father doeth the works." Peace and Love

Well, you asked the question and answered it for us. Holy of course means set apart, unique.

We are to emulate Gods ways, and those of Jesus.

It means to remain separate from the world, "Sanctified". We are to be in this world of Sin without being touched by it.

Be Blessed in Christ Jesus !
