I would say Ali deserves this title. Sure Marciano was undeafeated and that counts. But Ali was in wars with Titans throughout his career. He had th speed of a featherweight and the punch of a jack hammer. Look at who Ali fought..Frazier, Liston, Norton,Foreman Etc Etc and ask yourself how well they also would have done in other eras against other fighters. Ali fought the best and didn't hide out from any challengers just to keep his Title. Also Ali brought Boxing its first marketing star.

Rocky Marciano is the all time greatest heavyweight boxing champion. Some Ali, but he never fought like a champion as Rocky did. Ali made people punch themselves out and acted like a punching bag. Rocky kncoked out Ezzard Charles, Jersey Joe Walcott, Archie Moore and even Joe Louis. If you have a category for the heavyweight champion who could take the most beatings and still win it would be Ali. I have to give the greatest champion bid to Rocky.

Ali for sure. Louis was second. Marciano was about 6th. Don't be fooled by his record, I have told many people this. It doesn't matter how good your record is, it matters the level of opposition you face. The only greats he beat were all past their prime. Joe Louis was an old man who came back to get some money in order to live. Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore and Walcott were both smaller and past their primes as well.

Ali. Compare Marciano's opposition with Ali's. It's a joke, not even worth discussing. All of Rocky's best opponents(Louis, Moore, Walcott, Charles) were old men and well past their primes. Yet they still gave Rocky all he could handle. Wonder if the Rock could have beaten any one of them in their prime?

If Rocky fought in Ali's era he would not have come close to 49-0. He would have had several losses. Guaranteed.

Ali. At his prime he was the most famous man on earth. No one could best him in a fight and so i think that taking into account he beat Smokin' Joe Frazier and Foreman. The title should be and, acording to official judges, webpages etc that title actually is his.

The Brown Bomber...Joe Louis!!! No competition. He held the title for 12 straight years (longer than any man in history) and defended it 25 times (longer than any man in history) there's no argument...Joe Louis was the greatest!!!!!

Mr. Fleischer of "The Ring' magazine said Jack Johnson was. A book with a poll of experts I read said Jim Jeffries was best, and Jack Johnson was 2nd. Cassius Clay was rated 10th. I am certain someone will say Clay was best. If he was, he needn't have said so. Experts would say it.

ROCKY MARCIANO "THE BROCKTON BLOCKBUSTER" . AND SAVE THE 'HE FOUGHT' NOBODYS SPEACH. THE 1 PEOPLE WORSHIP, ALI FOUGHT ARCHIE MOORE 10 YEARS AFTER MARCIANO AN NOBODY BRINGS THAT UP. THE ROCK FOUGHT ALL WHO WERE PUT IN FRONT OF HIM AND BEAT THEM ALL. NOT BAD FOR A GUY WHO WAS LISTED AS 5'10 AND NEVER HAD AN AMATEUR FIGHT. HE RETIRED WHEN THEIR WAS NOMORE WORLDS LEFT TO CONQUER.
