Yes.
Here is the Pope's first encyclical entitled "Deus Caritas Est" or "God is Love": http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/benedict_xvi/encyclicals/documents/hf_ben-xvi_enc_20051225_deus-caritas-est_en.html
How can someone without a personal relationship with Jesus write such a beautiful document?
With love in Christ.

Somehow I think that you have to ask them.. How am I to judge their personal lives..
I can't even tell about the guy next to me in church, unless I ask him, so how would I know about the Pope.

YES, THEY DO. !!!!!!!!!!!!! And the Pope knows him a whole lot better than you do. If you knew him better yourself, you would not ask such a crazy question. You would understand what being a Christian is really about.

I think that dedicating your life to Christ, and even going to the extreme step of celibacy, qualifies.

No they have a very close bond with a woman arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
And upon her forehead [was] a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
