I am a recent dental school graduate and here is the 411:

It's TOO EARLY for you to be worrying about specializing in Pediatrics. You are not going to apply to a post-grad specialty program until your 3rd year of dental school.

Concentrate on getting into dental school first. Don't worry about it until you start dental school.

Dental School admissions do depend a lot on where you live. There are only 53 dental schools in the USA, and they tend to take students in their region. Only Large privately-funded dental schools like NYU do not show a geographic preference. Since you are a TX resident, you should apply to the three TX dental schools: Baylor, UT Houston, and UT San Antonio. You have a better chance of getting in there.

It won't be easy for you to get into the schools others mentioned (LSU, OSU), because you are not a resident in those states, and there are no 4-year DDS/DMD programs in Kansas.

Make sure you have a good DAT score, and get that GPA up! Get good recommendation letters from your science course instructors.

Hope this helps.

Dental education is particularly complicated, type of like medical education. there is numerous terminology and difficult artwork. I have had a hollow area drilled and so that they quite do no longer harm that plenty, they are more effective uncomfortable than some project. I in my opinion understand 'properly' dentists and that i think persons entire think of dentists like they think of physicians. in case you do not prefer to pass by using the completed training you need to be a dental hygienist. The dental hygienist software is maximum effective about a three hundred and sixty 5 days to a three hundred and sixty 5 days and an element to get gifted. in spite of the indisputable fact that, dental education is way longer and wide.
