It's not common certainly, but possible. That's why you're supposed to use a new lancet every time you test. If you have redness, swelling, or other symptoms where you've tested, check it out with your doctor. Lancets are very inexpensive, especially when compared to the price of the test strips. Why take chances instead of using a new one each time. Something I've noticed a couple of times when I was away from home and hadn't taken enough lances with me is that they're not as sharp after the first stick. Much easier all the way around to use a new one. Good luck.

You reduce the risk by using an alcohol wipe to clean the needle . The little alcohol wipes are not very expensive for the generic brand.
Dont use the same needle as another person.
I use the same needle for a week or so, and havent had any problems yet. Wash your hands well before and after the test.

You need to change your needle with each needle stick! What you are doing is inserting germs into your skin each time you reuse the needle. Not to mention the needle has to be dull.
By using the same needle you are defiantly putting yourself at risk of getting an infection and if it were to get into your bloodstream...yes, it could kill you. Be smart, use a new needle each time! This is your health we are talking about!
Oh, and by the way, I hope you also wipe your skin off with rubbing alcohol before pricking it with the needle. This too, helps get rid of germs.

AS much as possible...dont re-use the needles once it is already used for the 1st time
You will not die instantly...but you can get infections in blood due to microorganisms that had already invaded in the needle (even though you had already done certain asceptic techniques). Exposure of the needle for a long time also means exposure to microorganisms... Thats why in hospitals, once they open the pack of syringe and needles, they use it instantly then throw it away once already used
Infections in blood can be cured by antibiotics...but in severe cases, you'll need blood transfusions and it will cost you a lot.
