I told him sometimes I get headaches from working on the computer so I wanted glasses just to protect from the UV. He comes up with super stong reading glasses. I wore them once or twice an that was it. My eyes have never been able to focus again.

I dont think so. I didnt need the scrip I just wanted protection from the monitor andthats it. These super strong glasses just totally gave me eye strain and it never went away. its totally extreme,. I cant read a map or anything so then ihave to grabv for the glasses for everything. I have never had glasses in my life. then to suddenly be totally screwed. Anyway he was an eveil eye doctor and thats that and no its not an 'age' thing. Im barely over 40 and im totally healthy - I dont buy into that bullsjh*t thinking which is just stereotyping, there is no evidence to support that your eyes go downhill at 40. no way

Consider getting Lasik done. It was the best money I ever spent!

If you're over 40, it's the way of life. Alas...There are books about doing exercises for regaining some of the vision, but it's a lot of work, for little effect. Just wearing reading glasses a few times will NOT, I repeat, will NOT reduce your vision. It's just that the changes to our vision are gradual, so we don't notice them. Once you try them, you begin to notice the difference and think the glasses are the fault.
If you are significantly under 40, see another doctor. But don't worry in advance.

It is probably just your imagination. Ever since I got glasses 6 years ago, I have been convinced my eyes have gotten worse, but whenever I go for a check-up, they have barely changed (sometimes not at all). I think you are just more aware of your vision, that's all. If you are really worried, go back to that doctor. And if you don't like him, find someone new and have that doctor request your records from the old doctor. Good luck!

I think it's possible you're just becoming more dependent on your glasses. Ever since my eye doctor prescribed glasses to me, I swore my vision was going downhill. But my "scores" would be the same every visit - my doctor told me I'm probably just getting more dependent on the glasses! Don't worry too much, and if it really bothers you, try a second opinion.

Good luck!

Have u consider whether anything u r allergic to is screwing up ur eyes? Eye therapy glasses, the ones with many holes in it that let you relax your eyes, available in some big pharmacy.

Oh ya, buy a protection screen for the monitor it will help

you can't...the Dr didn't screw up your eyes...your eyes got bad and will get worse with age...sometimes you can change glass prescriptions 2-3 times a YEAR. I used to change once a yr...till I hit 35 and then it stopped...(now I need bifocals to read)...so don't blame a Dr for what your eyes are doing naturally.

If your eyes have not already been getting worse, he wouldn't have suggested reading glasses.
