No.
The reason we have Social Security is because the majority of people are too stupid to be trusted with their retirement.
We have religion because the same applies to science.
Before someone flags this answer, I'm 100% serious.

No, it doesn't surprise me. Americans also believe they are a nation under god, and that this is a country made by Christians which it is obviously not.
Many of the founding fathers were either atheist, deist or Freemasons and wanted to create a secular state.
Most of America is brain washed by the media and listens to everything the television tells them.

No. In a country where George W Bush is elected twice, I'm surprised most Americans can tie their shoes.

no it doesn't, look at the proof of evolution, recently an alligator head was found near a shark tail, and it became a fish turning into an alligator,
the fact the bones of different animals are found in the same area does not prove evolution. what it does prove is the different animals died at the same place.
and when Christians are no gullible enough to believe this, they are call bullheaded, stupid, and illiterate.

Most is only 50%+1. That would mean that 50%-1 do. And actually that 's not too bad. The idea of evolution has only been around since 1859, and only among the bright and educated.

No, it really doesn't. 80% of Americans (last time I checked) proclaimed to be of the Christian faith. In my opinion, scientists try to find the answers by excluding God out of the picture because many of them believe that everything in the world must be proven through experiments and seen by the naked eye.
Many states are adopting the use of creationalism into their classrooms as well...look at how much flack Kansas has received for incorporating this teaching into their classroom!

I am not suprised, and don't personally think evolution is correct either. If it is correct, then why, after over 200 years of archeological reasearch, has there not been a missing link found?
I don't think that a being snapped his fingers once a day for six days and made everything either, though.

It's hard for 150 years of evolutionary thinking to supplant 5,000 years of religious thinking.
