Tangentially, it's possible. Siddhartha Gotama preceded Jesus by about six hundred years, and there was cultural cross-pollination from India to Egypt at the time. Alexander's empire in the 300s BC included both westernmost India and Palestine, so most of the distance any idea would have to travel would be within a single political unit.

If Jesus was inspired by the Buddha,he would be a teacher, there might be similarity but one is a religion and Buddhism is an education,if he had learn form Buddha,he had not understand the teachings and preach to others with his own views, for 49 years of his teaching,Buddha had not say a word, his Dharma is from the true or pure self, his Dharma are taught by the Buddhas before him and Buddhas after him will still teach the same thing,i.e. the Universal Truth.Anyway,as he had taught, the Buddha Dharma will be in this world for 12,000 years, the rest of the ten thousand years is the Dharma ending age,we are in the second thousand years, the teachings will disappear in another 8,000 years,so, what ever religion is the top, don't really matters,as long as it do not divide or class the people,it is good as long as it unite all and practice for the good of all. Please do some reading about the two and you will be able to treasure what you can dig up.

Well there are proponents who believe that religions do influence each other to some extent.

However I tend to believe that religions stem from their cultural and environmental conditions more than anything else.

For example, in the chaos, poverty and suffering that was rural India, Buddhism blossomed as a promise of better things to come if you are a good person. The ultimate goal is the end of pain, and noise and the madness of everyday life. (I am simplifying I know).

Conversely, in the desert regions of the Middle East, Heaven is oppulent with rivers which flow milk and honey and you get everything your heart desires. This of course fits in very well with most modern societies where there is a never-ending quest for material possessions.

That's just my take on it.

Common theory as to the lost years of Jesus.

Many say he traveled East and learned of buddhism and hinduism. His teachings were miles apart from judaism.

Buddhism was rather young at that time though. Only about 500 years or so. It is possible.

Actually - Jesus' teachings correspond more directly with Hindu - if you have read any of the Mahabharata or the Upanishads you will find striking similarities to the teachings of Jesus.

It is believed by some that he may have spent time in the Far East, which may explain why there isn't much written after his youth until shortly before his death.

Possible. It is said that Jesus Christ went to Kashmir and learned from Buddhist Monks. Also, for many people out there: Religious Tolerance is a necessity in life. It binds humanity into one ever-spiritual soul. Blotting out other religions doesn't mean you are fervent in religion, but are ignorant to the true meaning of spirituality. In my opinion, we are all on a ladder towards God.

Nope. What Jesus taught if found in the Old Testament Scriptures and NOT in any Buddhist "scriptures." Anyone who thinks there is any connection between the two had read the sayings of neither.
