Trig and Geometry are important to know as an engineer. You will use them a lot, but it is important to remember that engineering is one great big open book exam that allows you to use any references and tools that you can to solve your problems.
So, knowing and remembering where to look for solutions and answers is important if you are going to be an engineer. Save all your math and science texts to use as references, espacially after you get into college, and learn to buy science and engineering reference books. No one can remember everything that they are taught, and no one is taught everything that they need to know.

You will use trig all the time in design. But if your score sucks in real life just buy a trig calculator with the built in formulas. Or buy a palm/pocketpc.

My friend is a carpenter who needed to figure out how big of a gazebo (an octagon) he could fit in a 9'6" by 9'6" footprint. We used triginometry to find the answer.

Neither one of us are engineers.
