the subject says it all.. but honestly, whats wrong with them?
if it's an attractive tattoo and not just scribbles, should it really matter?

The deal is the the guys who use it couldn't score with a woman who had one, and now they're PO'ed.

Hey, how come no derogatory terms for typical male tattoos? Maybe a shoulder tattoo should be called a name similar a sleeveless t-shirt. A forearm tattoo (not a sleeve) can be called a 'trashturbation'...

Not fair that men don't get their own insulting terms, don't you think?

People just like to judge. I think the girl makes the tattoo slutty not the tattoo making the girl slutty. Some have been so pretty and suited to the person and some are just ... random and crappy looking and the girl usually already acts like a **** on her own ... The only thing wrong with them is that other people feel they have the right to stereo type because of the location. "Tramp Stamp" is just a catchy, main stream name that people can remember easily. It also tends to justify their quick judgment about the girl with the tattoo.

Edit: To someone above, you can still get an epidural ... it isn't that low on your spine and the needle for the medication goes farther in than the ink does. Another stupid stereotypical reason to dis on lower back tattoos.

Personally, I wouldn't get the "cliche" tribal art/butterfly combo that seems oh so popular amongst the "trampy" looking youth in my area... But that's me, not them.

I don't think it's a big deal, it's their body, their art, and if they end up regretting it, that's their deal not mine. Now I do kind of cringe a little when I see people getting Kanji tattoos - people that have no Asian heritage whatsoever. And yes, alot of so-called "tribal" art makes me cringe too. But again, tattoos are about expression of self. And if your self is happy to pick art off a wall, draw it yourself, or bring in a CD cover and say I WANT THIS, more power to you.

Placement isn't such a big deal.

Nor is the art itself.

As long as the person is doing it for THEIR reasons, not someone else's, they can get whatever the hell they so desire.

Because it just gives some loser guys something to talk about, if they arent talking about the size of a girls boobs then they point out the fact she has a lower back tattoo and think she must be easy. I'd like to be able to tattoo "douchebag" on these guys foreheads so we can seperate them from the good ones, would make life a whole hell of alot easier!

Just another crappy nickname...lots of examples out there. As for the bogus scare tactics on the "don't get a lower back tattoo because you can't get an epidural" post totally false. How do I know? Watched my wife get one when our daughter was born and then again when our son was born. Just flat out false disinformation.

This is a tern coined by people without tattoos or are simply people trying to create drama and diss other people. I have one on my lower back and it is two Chinese symbols that stand for something personal. I'm tired of these ignorant and rude people hating on people's personal choices. If you don't like it then keep it to yourself please.

id just have to say that tramps get their name on their lower back so when their gettin it doggy style the guy wont forget their name =] but i think that as long as you dont get your name, then its not considered a 'tramp stamp' if you pick out a very gorgeous design it can turn into a beautiful piece of artwork =]
