The true church is inside yourself regardless of where you are.

You can be anywhwere and be in church as you pray or remember God in your special way.

On the other hand for many people a group gathering can create focus and spiritual strength.

That is as long as your focus is on God and not what the person across the room is wearing, saying and doing.

I get to hear instruction from the Word of God from a man who clearly explains it and helps me to apply it to my life.

I get an opportunity to hear God direct my life.

I hear a promise that lifts my spirits.

I get to share my life and the word with other friends, and see how it all blesses them.

I get other's support when I labor with them in prayer for the kingdom of God.

I have tasks to do that can make an eternal impact on the lives of others.

The worship experience is so much richer when the whole congregation joins together in praises to God.

I can give of my goods to help others in need.

I can share a word that lifts someone else.

I can bring my child in so he can learn from someone who teaches in a way children can understand.

I can be convicted by the sermon or another brother, and repent.

I find friends there I can talk to freely, and who share similar interests.

The people there are the most friendly and loving I have ever known anywhere because they want to be like Jesus.

A stiff back, sleeping butt cheeks, and an ear full of the speaker's personal opinion of God - and THAT'S coming from a conservative fundamentalist King James Bible Onlyist born-again Christian. The churches of today are NOTHING like the churches of the Bible and they are a disgrace. Today's churches are filled with people who pretend to be loving and holy (until you tell them you're gay and then you better run for your very life). Churches don't teach people how to be witnesses for God, they teach them prosperity. They don't teach them how to love thy neighbor, they teach them how to love only each other and themselves. They don't teach them to obey God, they teach them that God's Laws no longer stand. They don't teach them what they can do for God, they teach them what to demmand from God.

So what do I get out of going to church? A get a healthy educational dose of what Christians should NOT do. My suggestion is, for the sake of your faith, health, sanity, and wallet, don't go to church. Home Bible studies are better, more personal, definitely more godly, and exactly the way church was done in the Bible.

Well first off, I think its important to remember that church is not about "what do I get?" Its about what you give. I give worship to God, give 10% back to God, service to my fellow man, and I get communion, encourage others in their faith, uplifted in worship, edified by the message, challenged to do more and be more, and get encouraged and reinforced.

Anytime now that I dont go to church, it throws my whole week off and things dont feel right. I always regret missing a sunday or wednesday. Being around Christians and doing Gods will is a must if we want to follow Jesus because that is exactly what he did!

At church, I lay aside my earthly concerns and prepare myself for a spiritual experience. The beautiful music reminds me that I'm in a sacred place. There are others who share my beliefs, and we unite together to praise God. Yes, I can (and do) pray at home, and plenty of other places. But the church is special. It's completely devoted to God. I'm involved with the church music, and enjoy the feeling of looking at the cross while I sing, because in that moment, I'm especially aware that it's not all about me. I'm singing to God. And in Communion, I unite with my fellow believers in the memorial of Christ's death and resurrection.

I go to a great youth group. Everyweek -on Sunday and Wednesday- I get to fellowship with Christian teens, and learn about God, growing in my walk with God.

I usually get either upset, or sleepy. It really depends on who's preaching about what and whether or not there's a game on that I'd rather be watching.
