It is just allowing yourself time to consider the biggest step in your life. Really though if you have to think about it you are not sure if this person is the one you want to marry. I think it wise to choose the right person so you do not end up in divorce, but you should also be prepared for the person to wonder why you need to contemplate you response. I think most people who need to consider the commitment they are not ready to make the leap into marriage. So you must ask yourself the question do I want to be married, and to this person or to anybody for the matter?.

God Bless and Best Wishes!

Not necessarily a no, but not a good sign, either. I didn't have to think about it when my fiancee asked me, because I had already thought about it and knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him (no, he didn't give any hints, but I'm a woman, we think about these things). There was no doubt or hesitation.

No, that doesn't mean you are saying no. It means that you need time to think about your future and if you want to spend the rest of your life with this person.

i think if a person has to think about it that just means there are some doubts , its a huge commitment , and maybe he or she doesnt want to make a mistake .
