I never once implied calling the Divine just "It".

I call the Divine, "The Divine".

God is not male. God is a divine, genderless, all-powerful being. He has no human form, therefor he cannot have a gender. We refer to him as 'He' I guess, because it is habit and that is what those before us have done.

For Muslims, it is very easy to avoid using the term 'He'. We have many other terms for God. 99, to be exact. The Creater, The Magnificent, The Protecter, The Nourisher, there are many because God's power is limitless.

I think I answered your question?

I believe all life is immanently divine, male, female, plants, all. When I think of the Divine, I think mostly of the Earth, which includes all. I think the use of the masculine and feminine pronouns and other descriptive words is helpful for us to get in touch with the Divine in all life. Thinking about the Divine this way excludes no one who is on a spiritual path.

Those are my thoughts.

As a Wiccan, I experience the Divine as both male and female -- God and Goddess. I believe that the God and Goddess are human-comprehensible aspects of a fundamentally unknowable Source, which is itself neither/both male and female.

Christians call the Divine "He" because the Israelite tribal God who evolved into the Christian God was male, and the pronoun got "grandfathered in", so to speak -- at least as far as I can tell.

Hi Wize Guy,

The reason that people refer to God as "He" is because the Bible (God's word) teaches that God is a "He". God (The Father), God the Son (Jesus) are both male.

God is Spirit so i guess in that sense you can make an argument that God is Spirit and does not have a gender (but based on what the Bible depicts- God is male).

Ultimately the truth shouldn't just be determined by what an individual believes but by what is truth. There are those who believe monkeys, trees, are gods, but at the end of the day its either truth or not. It's important to have a strong basis for your beliefs beyond just that's what i think...

Kindly,

Nickster

My understanding is that God is the father of everything. So God is male. God is the creator of all living things. But god is also jesus the son, and the holy spirit. If you want to think of the holy spirit as female that may help you with understanding that god can be male and female. God is truly three in one. God is the father, the son and the holy spirit. God is in all of us men and women. And women have shown their importance in society and in the bible. If women did not exist then jesus never would have been born because mary is the mother of jesus. And in the same way no child would ever be born without women. In many societies women are the head of the family. All people are created in god's image. So in that way god produces men and women to be in his image, just as all men can create male and female children in their own image.

In the western world people tend to think of the creative force as male.

In many parts of the eastern world people also tend to think of the creative force as female.

OK so lets look at it a bit.
Good-Evil
Black-White
Etc.

The universe is made of opposites and the opposites are creative is all of its forms.

God as a female.
Go to http://yogas.org and do some of the meditations about MA the creative divine mother.

I relate to "GOD" as male and female like father and mother.

Hope tha tmakes sense to you.

God is spirit, a "consuming fire" (Deu. 4:24, 9:3 Heb. 12:29). The old and new testaments refer to God as He, Adam was the first man made in His image, Christ in human form was male and Christ is God, the Word made flesh. His Son even referred to Him as Father. When He taught us how to pray it begins with "Our Father". God is not a "male" in our since of thinking. When we think of male and female, we think in terms of the physical and clearly God is not physical. Refer back to the old testament, no one has ever seen God, no man or woman. The Lord is "I AM", He is everything.

Modern Revelation states there is a Father and a Mother in heaven. However the heavenly Father did not want his wife The Heavenly Mother's name used in vain like his and Jesus name would be so it was out of respect and honer that she is not mentioned. However I feel that we will find out on the other side how much influence she truly has in our earth lives.

It s a matter of language constraints, we have no other word to refer to God by, but that doesnt necessarily mean that God is male.
The truth is God is neither male nor a female, He simply has no gender, and we only use ''He'' for the above reason!

Saying G-d is man or woman is moronic because G-d created man and woman. Besides G-d has no physical body and no needs at not like people who have a physical body and a a lot of needs
