have you heard the word? http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20670001&refer=us&sid=afIESX3LdgnQ
how do you like that? al gore shall be the new messiah! i'm not into organized religion at all, but c'mon! this country is primarily christian. what are these nutcases doing, replacing the gideon bible with al gore's book (al gore the hypocrite, who also stated recently that "smoking causes global warming") on global warming being that he uses up more electricity in his mansion in one month than any other household does in his state in an entire year? who is al gore, the new guru? i'll bet that fundamentalist christians will say that he is the beast in sheep's clothing. would you make reservations to stay in a hotel that refuses to place the bible in a room, but puts in its place al gore's new GW scare book?

EDITED AFTER READING SOME ANSWERS: here is the link proving what the nutcase, al gore (who i really believe is dangerous to believe at all), said about smoking: http://s8.invisionfree.com/Al_Gore_Support/ar/t4886.htm

and:

why don't hotels simply put a bookcase in their lobby, like so many other places, that functions as a little 'lending library' for people to choose whatever they wish to read? i agree that there is no particular need for the gideons to place bibles in hotel rooms, but some people want to read them. so the gideons and the al gore believers can place their books into the hotel's 'lending library' along with pulp fiction, which, in my mind, is far more interesting to read any day than either of them.

AS REGARDS STEVEN HAWKINS: nobody knows whether or not hawkins' theories are correct. we witness so many darned surprises in looking at universe that who knows what is truth or what is falsity or what effect any of our theories have in impacting our lives or our belief system of G-d or atheism or nature (yes, mother earth is a very delicately balanced planet, so you had better shape up and start protecting our host) on this planet? the earth, one of how many possible planets in endless universe, in space, in what we know to be true (do we "know," really?) gets warm, it gets cold, by various means. it is NOT our fault ONE BIT that the planet is now growing warmer. but tens of thousands of paying jobs rely on the myth of guilt that we create it. al gore is not a scientist. personally, i think he is out of his mind and if you support him as a potential candidate to run for the presidential office, i think you are crazy too.

I carry a Bible with me when I travel. So, I guess I wouldn't notice.

I'm surprised with the liberal bent this nation has been on lately that they Gideon Bibles haven't been removed already. Surely these businesses must be worried about consumer opinion as much as WalMart did when removing the word Christmas from it's advertising.

Truthfully, I think Al Gores book is much more appropriate than the bible because you might learn something that will benefit humanity. You can read the Bible till your eyes bleed but it will never be more than fairy tales and remotely historic events. If you read the "Inconvient Tuth" or watch the movie you might realyze the exaust you burn driving to church actually makes the world worse. Besides, it's rather uncomfortable for atheists and other religions to find a bible in their sock drawer, why dont we just put hebrew bibles in there instead?

This is now officially old news, but since they have decided to replace the Bible with Al Bore's book it should now be reffered to as "The Gospel According To Al Bore" I just don't understand why they want to replace one fantasy book with another fantasy book,I can think of hundreds of books that could be more useful than Al Bore's "Incovenient Lie" How about a Stephen Hawking book,at least it would be something based on reality.

It really wouldn't matter to me as long as Mr. Gore's book was the truth. But I don't think it is, as many more reliable sources disprove the theory. So what I wonder now is, why can't they have both a Bible and An Inconvient Truth?

Al Gore : Complains about global warming, but lives in a 20,000 square foot house. Think of his emissions for heating and such.

The relevant question is, why does a hotel room need a Bible in the first place? If you're the sort of person who thinks that you should have a Bible everywhere, shouldn't you bring a copy along? Or are the Gideons catering exclusively to forgetful Christians?

Honestly, I'd rather see "An Inconvenient Truth" in my hotel room than the Bible; I haven't read Gore's book.

But everyone thinks he's a nutcase. Who's gonna take him seriously? Did you hear about the people exploring the North Pole who couldn't go any farther because it was TOO COLD?

I am not impressed. Maybe it would help if he had some of these things in his own home. His electric bill is more than I earn in a month.

yes, I would. as a matter of fact, I'd much prefer it.

and it's the hotels prerogative to supply or remove whatever books they wish.

do you have a link to the smoking quote?
edit: (she sent me a link)
excellent link, thanks!
it completely DEBUNKS your claim:
