Yes, I believe the Bible does teach election. I believe that all those who are saved (and will be saved in the future) were elected by God before the creation of the world. Here are some passages that support this view:

John 6:44
Romans 9:14-24
Ephesians 1:5
1 Peter 2:8 (this verse is stated in the negative by asserting that the unsaved were predestined to fall and be damned)
Jude 4 (another verse which is stated in the negative about the condemnation of the false teachers which was planned long ago)

If you disagree feel free to respond below. I would like to hear your thoughts.

God opened my eyes to his sovereign grace about 2 years ago. The doctrine of election is found in many verses thru out the bible. Praise God for my salvation.

I agree for the most part. Because didn't God come right out and say,? ....You think you chose Me , but it is I who chose you from the foundation of the world !! In the first earth age we were all one happy family until Satan"s rebellion. Some angels fought against Satan long and hard. They will not be put in earthly bodies because the were already found worthy. Then of the rest of us some were found totally unworthy and they will not be put in earthly bodies because they were totally committed to Satan. Then the rest of us were fence sitters so to speak . And we were chosen by God at that time ( after Satan's rebellion which was before Genesis) to have a chance at salvation. And then we come into this world and accept Christ and think that we chose Him (which we did), but didn't God choose us for a chance at salvation long before we chose Him. Now as far as being an election of God . Yes God has an election but they are for end times purposes and should not be confused with being chosen for a chance at salvation. And if you disagree then you will have to face me and Royal Racer in a caged tag team match at your friendly neighborhood Madison Square Garden. LOL

Then why does the Bible say many are called?

Joh 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

This does not support predestination. It only puts salvation as a work of the Holy Ghost.

Jud 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

They were ordained becasue they denied the Lord God.

The Bible does state that you are saved by obedience to Acts 2:38

Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

The promise is unto ALL that are afar off, even as many as the lord calls.

It is the will of God that all men come to repentence

2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

My question then, is are you one of the predestined? If you say ye, how do you know?

1Pe 2:8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

This does not say anything about predestination.

The Bible plainly states that Jesus Christ suffered and died so that "ALL MEN" might be saved. If predestination were true, earthly existence would be a sham, totally meaningless, and morality would also be a total waste of time. Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow you'll go where you were predestined to go. and you have no choice. Fortunately the heresy of predestination was thoroughly denounced by the Christian Church very early in its history, since it directly contradicts what the Bible says about salvation.

Ah, besides the undeniable fact that that's. it is between the factors of the backyard of Eden tale. the skill to differentiate between good and evil has the will of having to chosen between the two equipped into it. mutually as we would all wish that each and each individual might make the "suited" determination, it ain't unavoidably so. beforehand of having the certainty of superb and evil, there became into no dichotomy to be understood and in basic terms one course to take, in different phrases, no determination or loose will. After that factor, determination and the will to chosen. merely via fact the phrases are not there does not advise the theory isn't there. As to an all-helpful god, all people who's all helpful can placed a number of that skill into the theological equivalent of a blind have faith, which will nicely be revoked at any time. that's like letting your babies make errors in circumstances the place you know you ought to have stopped them, yet did not. It does not advise you have not have been given the skill, it in basic terms ability which you chosen to not workout it. the academic adventure is extra advantageous than imposed understanding, which lacks know-how.

Predestination and free will are very complicated things, especially for a very human brain like mine.

God is outside of time. Therefore to God, all moments of time are present to God as if they are all now.

When God establishes his eternal plan of "predestination", he includes in it each person's free will response to his grace.

So the omniscience (all-knowing-ness) of God does not deny our free will to respond to accept the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

With love in Christ.

It does not. God is sovereign. But my God is so much more powerful than your god that He is able to have 6.5 billion+ people on this planet, each with his or her own little will, doing his or her own little thing, and my God's plans are not changed one whit. My God is never surprised, always prepared, because He sits OUTSIDE time and so knows all that will happen. And, actually, that's a misnomer. To God, it's all happening now.

To your point: my God is a God who loves me, and wants me to love Him. Love REQUIRES choice. Calvin didn't love anyone; he thought he needed to force everyone to obey. But Jesus said, "If you love Me, keep My commandments." Those who love Jesus obey Him. And they obey Him because they have willed to obey Him out of their love for Him. THAT is what God wants out of this whole stinkin' world thing He's allowed, and He is getting it.

But He isn't getting it from Calvinists.
I could go on, but space doesn't permit. Read Dave Hunt's "What Love is This?" After 400 pages, you'll realize why space doesn't permit. But the short answer is that the book goes into the Scriptures that Calvinists refuse to even acknowledge the existence of.

...Calvin is a dirty word in too many Christian circles, unfortunately.
...I totally agree with you. Too many folks believe that "God casts a vote for you, Satan casts a vote against you, and you cast the deciding vote" - wrong, wrong, wrong.
...Ephesians 2 says we are dead in sins and trespasses...spiritual corpses...who, like Lazarus, whom Jesus raised, must be called to life by the Master, regenerated by the Holy Spirit.
