He would never ask you to do the impossible. Not sure who you've been getting your information from. Religion is a Man-made idea and it has caused most of our wars. And God doesn't control the world. It's our choice what we do with our lives. We can chose to follow him or chose not to. It's all a matter of believing him, and accepting Jesus christ in your heart. You're just seeing the wrong people. I live my life the same as any average person, I have gay friends, I say cuss words, and I don't read the Bible, nor do I go to church but I know there's a place in heaven for me beause I'm a good person and I follow my life the best way I can that would please him. You just gotta be around the right people. :)

The religion of Jesus Christ is so very simple; humans have made it complicated as we do everything. We need a savior because "no sin can enter heaven" Heaven is a state of mind and also a place. Jesus died for our shortcomings and therefore we can enter heaven, both now and later. He was qualified to do this as He was the perfect lamb. The God that people don't like is not this God. It's a great deal and no one has to go any further than believing this. Thats it.

One: Just because you man perceive something to be cruel does not necessarily make it cruel.
Two: Getting into heaven is actually very easy. All you have to do is be a good person and live your life in a modest way.
Now the point of a religion is to get close to G-d. Every religion has its own way to get close to G-d.
Now to answer your question whats it good for. If you find a religion that has an explainable life style and one that would make your live better and have much more meaning

If the "religion" is all about superiority in some way, separating people from one another just because of differences in belief, level of understanding, knowledge or status... then it's not good at all. Everyone has different levels of understanding/ability and everyone comes from different places in the world and different cultures where their ideas about things are formed. However, you don't have to work your glutes off to do anything to get to heaven, because there isn't a way you can do that on your own. Jesus knows the way to G-d the Father and is the path itself to find Him. That's why he knows... it's not possible to find Him unless you merge from where you came from on your path into the oneness of His, where all paths merge... but you can only find Him when you move and travel down your path, to it's end. It usually takes some time, but you can get there. It helps to remember... the journey itself is often as important as the destination.

All religions have there root in explaining unexplainable thing at the time, teaching social and moral values. I have to admit it was a beautiful thought before we turned it into something to use against others that did not share our communities point of view and as a way to control others. I still believe one day man kind will make amends with each other and realize we are one people and share one common goal and value system.

Back in the days, when Jesus was still alive, they had no way of knowing how the body healed itself, or how diseases came to us. So the answer was simple-God. Now when we have knowledge over stuff like how the body works, and how the universe works, is there really a need for God anymore?

they're fables and analogies, early attempts at understanding this world. By studying these principles be them the testament of john or hansel and gretal we can learn a thing or two. But thier is no need to live your life by sentence fragments.
i.e.
don't kill
gays are bad
porks bad
but why did early cultures say these things? what use are they? can we thoroughly cook our pork now? can we use lube? do we really need more babies to stop extinction or are we a bit crowded today? Does god want me to kill for Bush or just that i can't get the drop on my enemies?

The main reason for the world and our existence is to work for god so he can reward us. Think religon has been playing role years and years. Still religions playing roles. God is not cruel rather he loves us. He is testing us but he has given us brain to think and understand his existence by looking at his design in creation. Also reading his book. But he told people to be patient until u meet him. when u meet him, for your little good deeds he will reward you out of your imagination. However, dont confuse yourself with buddism. Study islam and find out what you want to know. Islam will teach you everything.

Hmm. Because of religion we have faith based hospitals, hospices, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, food pantries, and detox centers. Religious missionaries feed children overseas (who would otherwise starve) and provide medical care.
Here's a thought. What is your negativity good for? Are YOU going to find millions of volunteers and give billions of dollars to help the poor, sick, and dying world-wide.
I am sure that starving children in Africa and Asia thank GOD for the Christian missionaries.
Grow up.

Religion is good for calming the soul, and for finding your own niche in the world. Honestly, if I didn't have religion, I would be an atrocious person. If you've lost your faith, you just need to listen to your soul and get it back. It doesn't really matter what specific religion you believe in though, as long as you believe in something. Even if you believe in not knowing, that's better than not believing at all.
