I'm not sure how this can be considered an Egyptian proverb since you didn't provide the proverb as an example to compare to. I can tell you that He was referring to Heaven as being His house, and Heaven as being so vast that there are many mansions with many rooms for those who serve and follow Him. Whether or not He used an Egyptian proverb makes no difference because 1) He is God's Son and would know about all the proverbs and beliefs from all the religions/cultures and 2) If He was speaking primarily to Jews, it is likely that since the Jews had a history of many, many years in captivity as slaves in Egypt, they probably were aware of such a proverb. Jesus often spoke in ways that people could understand and relate with. If He mentioned something that happened to be an Egyptian proverb that Jews of that time were familiar with, it would have been to make the point in which He was trying to make. He was a very effective speaker and often used proverbs, prophecies, parables and word pictures to make a point.

FAQ: Why different testaments and books in the Word?
"As regards the Word particularly, it has existed in every age, though not the Word we possess at the present day. Another Word existed in the Most Ancient Church before the Flood, and yet another Word in the Ancient Church after the Flood. Then came the Word written through Moses and the Prophets in the Jewish Church, and finally the Word written through the Evangelists in the new Church. The reason why the Word has existed in every age is that by means of the Word there is a communication between heaven and earth, and also that the Word deals with goodness and truth, by which a person is enabled to live in eternal happiness. In the internal sense therefore the Lord alone is the subject, for all goodness and truth are derived from Him" (Arcana Coelestia n. 2895).

Quite the contrary. The Jews were held captive by Egypt so long before they left and they far out numbered the Egyptians by the time they left. It stands to reason the Egyptians picked up on the Jewish religion rather than the reverse.

And where did the Egyptians obtain this idea?
If one studies a variety of religions, cultures and doctrines, one will soon discover that there are MANY similarities between all of them--in fact, they may be more alike in many ways than they are different.
It is NOT 'the source' that determines whether something is or isn't the truth, but it is the ability of the teacher/student to discern whether what is being said/taught is or isn't the truth.
Where does it say that truth can only come from one accepted outside source?
All learning is a result of 'stimulation without' followed by 'verification/validation within'.
Again, that stimulation might come from a variety of sources.
Yes, some sources are more reliable and consistent than others.
All that comes within the perview of your existence needs to be examined by 'your soul' in order to discern 'the truth of it'.
For instance, by the use of the soul it is possible for one to discover more truth in "The National Enquirer", than one NOT using the soul were to read iout of the Bible.
Again, it is NOT the source, but is YOU who makes the determination as to what is or isn't the truth!?
The sooner people become aware of this, the sooner that they will stop being fooled and deceived.

well many muslims and jews and christians will tell you that he got it from God. they believe that God sent down prophets everywhere including the egyptians, if you look at almost all religions in the world and their history, they are all relatively the same. the only thing is the changes made due to culture and current knowledge. For instance, really really old religions were all monotheistic including ancient egyptian whose main God was called Pataqh and they just believed God manifested himself in different forms. Does the Holy Spirit ring a bell? So either humans are incapable of thinking in completely opposite way or God has truly sent down his message to every civilizations and the humans then just manifested it from their culture and a way they could understand it at that time. You choose.

I haven't heard the claim that Jesus was quoting an ancient Egyptian proverb when he said this. I think some more information (including your sources) would help with an answer.

You need to remember that Satan is the liar. Also know that the gods and goddesses the Egyptians worshiped were actually Satan's demons or even Satan himself. He knows quite alot of information about Jesus and God. What purpose do you think this served later when Jesus walked the earth? Exactly what you are doing now. Being a stumbling block for others.

You must understand that the Egyptians were the distant cousins to the Hebrews, all mankind coming from the family of Noah.
Therefore, there were most likely some teachings of God's chosen family have filtered down to many different faiths.

Jesus Christ rose from the dead.
It does not really matter if what he preached came from an Egyptian proverb. The fact is God speaks to all peoples so I am not surprised at all, if indeed, there was such an Egyptian teaching.
Peace and blessings!
