Why is the christian religion so westernised? The biblical characters would've all been from the middle east.
They were all Arabs..!!

Yet the westernised depictions of Jesus are with blonde hair, blue eyes, and along with depictions of the other characters, they all seem to be Germanic or Scandinavian.

It's very misleading, no surprises there of course..
Is it just another christian inconsistancy among so many others that it gets looked over as well?
It's downright racist.!

Truth?: A little underage Arab girl had an illegitimate child to a dirty old carpenter, and to avoid being stoned to death for this indescretion, as was the custom, the child was proclaimed to be an "immaculate conception", and just to be sure was proclaimed to therefor be the "son of god"..

Why else did they travel so far to have this child away from those that knew them? This is not an unusual scenario today, where guilt ridden young people feel the need to escape persecution for similair reasons..

Well it clearly depends of which picture, painting or fresco you look at. They're often very different.
The question still stands..

This was the middle east around 2000 years ago, and there would've been no outward distinguishing features, Much akin to the biological differences between the Serbs and Croats today, there are none..!

This question is not a derogatory one. Don't choose to be a victim in order to avoid the question, it's very weak..

Jews and Arabs were different by name only 2000 yrs ago. It is a name.
Haven't you noticed today how many Arabs look like Jews and vice verce.

Don't be so naive.

This post is intended to be derogatory, or a "rant", but is a proposal of a likely scenario, where possibly a normal man was belatedly written about decades after his death and, and this passage of time allowed the more fanciful biblical stories to remain unchecked and without scruitiny.

It makes sense.. to an open and questioning mind..

The answers to the question of "looks" have been most unsatisfactory, as I expected.

Why do you curse God. He will forgive you if you ask.

Well if the weight of your argument and condemnation rests on Jesus having a more european look in portraits, then that really is a sad testament to what you think are the important issues in Christianity.

Rather, the important issues are the elements and principes of the Gospel and the finer points of Jesus teaching and our theological responses to such teachings which are hardly distinctly western in any exclusive sense. So I think the only one focusing on race is you.

Nobody can explain away the virgin birth as easy as that because there were other witnesses involved like Elizabeth, not to mention both Mary and Josephs testimony about the angels vision and message. And there is no evidence to suggest that her life were ever in danger from town elders. She wouldnt have any other reason either to continue to lie after such time that she knew she wouldnt be punished.

They did a lot of traveling when Jesus was a baby because instantly his life was in danger from King Herod who knew the prophecies and was afraid of the coming Messiah.

If you deny who Jesus was in this life, you will be denied life in the next.

I can't change what you want to believe, however, if Joseph hadn't claimed Jesus as his, Mary would have been stoned to death. The reason they went to Bethlehem was because they were required to travel there for some stupid census Rome was taking. They did eventually return....with Jesus....which blows your theory because guilt-ridden young people either go away and stay away, or return after they have given the baby up for adoption.
By the way.....why the attack on Christianity? Did your mom force you to go to church when you were little and you couldn't stand it from then on or what? I don't attack other religions just because I don't agree with them and some of what they say doesn't make sense.....

I agree with Ann N. there are rules against this ranting and raving.... what you propose here is absolutely obsurd and OFFENSIVE to Christians.... And it does NOT matter what Jesus looked like, (it seems all races tend to portray Jesus to reflect their own race, which I think is completely fine - although in truth Jesus was a Jew - not an Arab) all that matters is HIS word... you are obviously not a practicing Christian.... I will pray for you, God Bless You Always...

Oh, who knows why some fools depict Jesus as a white guy lol. We all know He wasn't and aren't foolish enough to believe it just because someone painted Him that way.

Oh and btw? The option Joseph had was not to have her stoned, as he obviously knew he wasn't the father ... his option was to keep the kid as his or put her away for divorcement. It'd have meant shame for her, but not death.

But he didn't. And why not? If we are using your so-called logic, then we'd say that if it wasn't his, why the heck did he even bother with some little underage arab girl and her bastard child?

You probably didn't know that Joseph didn't want to marry her; it was his lot to do so, he already had wives already dead and kids by other women.

You figure it out.

"As regards the Word particularly, it has existed in every age, though not the Word we possess at the present day. Another Word existed in the Most Ancient Church before the Flood, and yet another Word in the Ancient Church after the Flood. Then came the Word written through Moses and the Prophets in the Jewish Church, and finally the Word written through the Evangelists in the new Church. The reason why the Word has existed in every age is that by means of the Word there is a communication between heaven and earth, and also that the Word deals with goodness and truth, by which a person is enabled to live in eternal happiness. In the internal sense therefore the Lord alone is the subject, for all goodness and truth are derived from Him" (Arcana Coelestia n. 2895).

I don't think any Jew in the whole world would be pleased at being called an arab. You know, ALL the answers to what you ask are in there. You just have to look.

Seriously I knew people wouldn't believe in Him or the things that were said in the bible but never really knew people would be so ignorant . I would defend my God and my Savior but the things they have done says enough but when we all get judged just please remember this message because it will happen and everybody before it is all over will proclaim Him as Lord!

Christians believe every word in the Bible is the word of God. What you have said is blasphemy to the religion.
You should really read the Answers Team blog about using Q/A to rant ............ it's a violation.
