This question is promulgated a lot by Christians who are disturbed by the notion of atheism. The truth is that we all organize our thinking in a way similar to the way our parents and communities organize their thinking. We notice similar things and ignore particular things we find meaningless.

Taken from an atheistic point of view, the believer develops a particular frame of mind that includes the god fantasy. Atheists would see this no differently than someone who insists on watching cartoons each Saturday morning. Either is an organizing principle on which to structure your time and attention.
