Im reading a Spanish website about the carnival in the Dominican Republic, it talks about "parades of comparsas", what does comparsas mean?

Comparsa is a dance group.

During the parades in carnival you have groups of people representing a neighbourhood, a club or association.
They wear the same costumes and parade together.
These groups are called "comparsas".

Just in case, each group has different costumes but all in one group dress the same.

Well it has multiples meanings. They are type of dances and fragments of a musical partiture
