It still comes down to how many punches were landed in each round. Mayweather clearly landed more punches in most of the rounds. Just check the comp u box numbers scored. I was going for De La Hoya but I thought he lost a close decision. Mayweather out smarted De La Hoya. He did just enough to win.

I'll say it again, just because you're the aggressor doesn't guarentee victory in a boxing match. I've seen this same scenario a hundred times before. You're not awarded anything for throwing a punch. For example, Oscar only connected on 11% of his punches one round and was in the 20% for many other rounds. How is that winning?? If Mayweather is a chicken, then so is Sugar Ray Robinson and Sugar Ray Leonard because when they moved up in weight, they used the same technique. Come in quick, get your one to two punches and then step out. Run circles all night long. They had to use their foot speed and hand quickness against heavier or bigger sized oppenents. Mayweather did the same exact technique against Baldomir when Carlos came in fight day at 162. Actually, all the boxing analysts were saying that the one judge who gave it to De La Hoya was fooled by the fans and doesn't know how to properly score a boxing bout. Mayweather didn't hurt Oscar or win convincingly, but it was clear that he did win. I've seen a lot of other legitimate draws that were harder to judge. And we don't need a rematch, Floyd needs to match up with someone who has more foot and hand speed. Many props to Oscar though, I thought he fought very smart and did the best that he could do. Oscar should fight Ricky Hatton in England. I would love to see Floyd fight Miguel Cotto or Shane Mosely! Oh yeah, Floyd's dad is biased. Don't you know about the drama in that family. Floyd and his dad are at odds. Floyd Sr. was in Oscar's section for the fight. He trained Oscar. Of course he's going to give props to Oscar.

Floyd was a coward. He said pre-fight he'd stand and trade, that De La Hoya's power meant nothing. Then he danced all night. What a flake. De La Hoya carried the fight and should've won. Mayweather is a joke.

Yes - De La Hoya should have won. Although Mayweather had the better hit percentages, I don't know if I'd call his hit and run technique championship boxing. It was De La Hoya that was the aggressor and had to force the fight.

well De la Hoya was more active in the fight but Mayweather was killing him in his accuracy he landed over half his punches in come rounds Mayweather is light on his feet and De la hoya just got tired after round 4 Mayweather shouldve won regardless of what his dad says because if you look at the stats Mayweather obviously was way more accurate De la Hoya just was swinging to hurt him and it didn't work to well he shouldve stuck with his left jab he couldve won

I believe Mayweather fought a good fight. Just because he was not the agressor does not make him a chicken. For all the people out there calling him a chicken or P***y, they would never step in the ring themselves.
