I think most couples do it themselves these days. My sister did hers herself (almost 10 years ago), and i'm doing mine myself this year. I have heard that the groom's parents should pay for it, but all these old traditions are so outdated. I just prefer doing everything myself. So much easier that way because you don't have to worry about who's doing what and you don't feel bad about sticking someone else with a large bill.

Etiquette says that the grooms parents plan and pay for the rehearsal dinner since traditionally the brides parents pay for the actual wedding.

the grooms parents pay for it, but planning should most definitely include the bride and have her okay with the arrangements. In many cases the bride is given an amount to work with and plans what she wants with some input from the grooms mother.

Traditionally, it's the grooms parents....but these days it can be either them, the bride's parents or the bride & groom. The best man doesn't ever pay for something like that!

Traditionally the grooms family pay for the rehearsal and the brides pay for the wedding! Totally unfair but that's the way it goes.

It is the grooms parents. They plan it and pay for it. Sometimes the brides family helps. It really just depends on the money.

Generally and traditionally, the rehearsal dinner is hosted by the groom's family, but today, anyone hosts it, from the groom's family to the couple themselves.
