Siercova I think I love you. You are absolutely right, people conform to the society because they are easly influenced and do not have a real opinion on the issue, yet because of their ignorance millions of people suffer.

people are ENTIRELY confused about this issue. are you saying they are more intelligent than the average person?
that is a contradiction in terms.
the people who want it to be the way it is are totally happy, right now. you're a rare bird if you know the difference and carry it this way.

My view has nothing to do with the masses, it has to do with what is right and what is wrong. You are not from here so perhaps you do not understand or care to understand. My views have to do with how illegals have negatively impacted my area and the burden they cause on an already overburdened system. It has to do with the lack of respect for this country or community that the illegals show. It also has to do with a very good personal understanding of the immigration process as we did the process legally when my husband immigrated here. It is a slap in the face to the law abiding citizens of this country and to the legal immigrants when the illegals are catered to and when people try to make them out to be the victims. Do you plead the causes of other law-breakers? Do you demand amnesty for thieves, murderers, pedophiles, drug smugglers? I am sure they have a lame "justification" for why they did what they did too...just like your illegal cohorts. I only say people are confused about legal and illegal if they claim it is a racist complaint...that is not the issue...those people ARE confused about what the actual complaint is...it is legal status, not race. If you understand this then you are not confused about the issue, but I still believe there is no justification for legalizing the illegals.

They are trying to make a point that the two are not the same. But obviously even a 2 yr old can make that distiction! What I worry about most, is that most people that are against illegal immigration know dangerously little about our immigration process and financial requirements. Not to mention how many illegals DONT take government assistance and DO pay taxes.

Since you weren't even born here it is very doubtful that you consider the U.S. to be your country. Patriotism, pride and caring about the future of this great nation probably doesn't even enter your mind. You are probably alot like the illegals if you aren't one yourself in the fact that you consider whatever country that you came here from to still be your country! You are just in the States because you can make more money and work the system in your favor.

OK - you have a right to your opinion.
That doesn't mean that the rest of us have to agree with it.
I think all illegals should be deported. Today.

I don't. I think they know EXACTLY what they are doing.
As long as they can't see the cost, as long as it doesn't cost them, personally, they don't care. Some even want it because they are illegal immigrants or are close to someone who is.
It's still wrong.

Polishmnmz, it is a pleasure to meet you. It seems to me like you are suffering from the effects of dealing with incoherent anti-illegals. I, as well as you, am in favor of a legalization for some illegal immigrants.
People in general tend to stick with what the large group says, in this case the anti illegal movement. If you notice, most of these people that support anti illegalism do not really have a personal opinion, and comform with what the media tells them. These people are ignorant and lack initiative, of course. Since our leaders and representatives are constantly being victims of the news, they understand that the influence such spreads over people is many times very inaccurate and even extremist. It is we, the superior intelligent beings, and our government that need to work together towards a real solution of the problem of illegal immigration.
The restriction ideology that some want to adopt is based purely on emotions. They look at it this way: if it is illegal, it must be punished. If you follow certain patterns of logic, and try to take history into account, you will understand that what the sense of justice tells us is not always the most proper thing to do. For example, when Jacobo Arbenz Guzmán, ex-president of Guatemala, was overthrown by rightist guerrillas financed by the CIA, he could have counterattacked and won the war, but he knew that it would only cause more death and sorrow, so he didn't do it and peacefully resigned. In the same manner, we have to leave all emotions aside and treat the problem in a proper, organized way.
There is absolutely no way that we can deport twenty million illegal immigrants, and live like it never happened. Not only would it harm the economy, but it would also become a catalyst for an even larger wave of illegal immigrants. When the deported workers arrive, there will be scarcity, and their countries will not be able to handle such impact. This, therefore, will get people who had never thought of migrating to start doing so, and guess where they are going?
Mass deportation is synonym of national suicide. All the additional effects besides the ones I mentioned would represent a bump to our so-far-succesful economy. The borders would be more insecure than ever, corruption would rise, and we would literally be at a state of alarm. This is why you and I should support a migratory reform. It is the first step towards getting out of the problem, and keeping the nation from possibly collapsing.
