I filed an ammended return for 2005. The IRS recieved it Jan 21, 2007. I was due a large refund nearly 3,200. Here it is May and I haven't recieved a thing. I keep on calling and all they say is give it time, it takes time. All the info I've seen says it generally takes 8 to 12 weeks. It's been well past 12 weeks.
So does anyone have any helpful info?? How long can this possibily take?? I need my $$$ lol

Well, it's only a couple weeks past 12 weeks. You filed an amendment for a return from a year ago, in the IRS's busiest season. And an amended return with that much additional refund will probably get reviewed closely before you get it. It'll take time. If you'd filed say last summer or fall, you'd have probably gotten it much quicker.

You took over 9 months to file the amendment. They've had it for 3-1/2 months. If your amendment is legit, you'll get your refund, probably pretty soon.

Good luck.

Amended returns usually go to the bottom of the stack. They will want to complete this year first.
