I just got a violation!! I am in such shock. The question was "Should child molesters deserve the same justice as other criminals by the law?" The offending answer was "No, they should be castrated with a rusty spoon.". Now, correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't I supposed to answer with my personal opinion? To answer otherwise, would have defeated the whole purpose of asking the question.

Thank you all for answering! For those who thought my answer was a bit harsh...my two daughters were molested when they were little and the person who did it got off with Aggravated Assault on a minor 2 counts and time served (less than 2 years). He doesn't even have to sign the Central Registry. He deserves worse than the spoon.

OMG i know!!!
I sometimes get soooo frustrated with these violation emails that i just want to... GAH.
You are sooo right, there is NOTHING wrong with your answer. And that has happened to me before too. I ask a question, and some stupid person with no life has to report that answer as abuse.

Don't worry about it, it happens to nearly everyone. The question really is..."who DOESN'T get violation notices."
It really is very frustrating, but I think I've gottten over it, because none of the violation notices I've recieved have ever made any sense >_<

Well that’s the thing I agree with you but it may have offended some people. I think it’s all about how you say things not what you say. If you would have said “No I think they deserve more severe punishment because they damage the children of the future and they destroy the lives of someone who is innocent and defenseless” you probably would not have received a violation. Honestly I agree with what you said but I guess a child molester took offense to your answer! (Not funny but it’s probably true) LOL Who in their right mind would condemn you for saying that?

Castrated with a rusty spoon? Not good enough give child molesters a lethal injection and just get rid of the scum. That violation you recieved was ridiculous and yes you are entitled to your opinion.

I got a violation for something very similar to your answer about 2 months ago and I emailed them back and asked why I was being put in violation when other people use bad language and sometimes even use the answer for ad's and I NEVER got an answer back....

Some people are hypersensitive. I don't necessarily AGREE with your answer either, but I wouldn't have reported it, especially if I asked for your opinion.
This is why I hate Y!A sometimes. The TOS are so vague, and they WANT to make it specific, but it's hard to put "rules" on opinion, advice, and objectivity. Some people take offense and are overly sensitive to all kinds of different things.

I am with you 100% ! Only I say rapists and child molesters should be cut off and thrown in a man"s prison for life ! Let them feel the pain !

It comes down to this. If you dont have anything nice to say keep it to yourself. I know thats not how you felt and you're right here comes the "but" but in a case like that you just need to either downplay your answer or skip that question altogether. Atleast I think this is how Yahoo wants us to act. I could be wrong.

Yes, of course you're supposed to answer with your personal opinion- I thought that this is what it's all about. And by the way, I liked your answer. I could think of a bunch of way worse things for pedophiles.

I have gotten two so far, and they are absurd, I feel like I should write them a long letter of my rights to freedom of expression sometimes.

Oh, the first one was because I criticized a person for going on YA to ask fo homework answers. Like that's not great to let kids come on here to ask homework questions being legitimate, its just another way to cheat and not learn it!

Makes me so mad!

I also received a violation for a question that i asked for people to sign a petition for tougher laws for sex offenders,I think there are some sex offenders on here that take offense and report our questions .
