The Air Force used to have different color uniforms. The green patch is probably for the old "poopie suit" green flight line coveralls and the blue patch is for the "class A" sky blue uniforms.

Navy Rank / Rating insignia patches come in FOUR different basic colors:
White with Dark Blue Chevrons - for Dress and Tropical White Uniforms.
Navy Blue with Red Chevrons - for Dress and Winter Working Blue Uniforms.
Navy Blue with GOLD Chevrons - for blue uniforms IF the wearer has 12 years of Good Conduct.
Marine Green with Black Chevrons - for the VERY rare Aviation Green Uniform !!
For junior enlisted... the color of the stripes (E-2 and E-3) are based on the nature of the individuals RATE:
Red - Fireman
White/Black - Seaman
Green - Aviation
Blue - Construction

Yes, because different uniforms require different patches. For example. On the Air Force Blue's uniform or the short sleeve blue shirt, the stripes have a dark blue background, with white stripes. On the BDU's, or Battle Dress Uniform, the stripes have a dark green background and blue stripes. For the mess dress uniform, the background is a real dark blue, almost black with silver stripes.

it depends on the shapes
the air force uses chevrons. llike the army and marines the shape that is
the navy uses slashes until E-4 i belive then goes to a chevron also
the colors a green patch is most likely ment for a set of bdus which both services can use in certian situations.
green with blue sounds liek air force if i reemmebr right the navy uses green background with black slashes
but also remember each service uses at least 3 types of uniforms.. work , dress, and serivce types so it is entirely possible they are all air force

they are both Air force if they're the right kind of chevron (with a star in the middle) the green patches with blue stripes go on the BDUs and and blue with white go on the other uniforms.

navy patches for enlisted e1 thru e3 are as follows seaman are if they are wearing blues white stripes,if they are wearing whites then it black stripes.now on both blues and whites these colors are the same.green stripes is airmam [ airdale]baby blue stripes are construction man [seabees] and red stripes are fireman [ enginering ].you might be talking about airforce stripes which are white rating patch.marines have red strips on thier patches and i think the army have green patches.the coast guard are the same as the navy.also keep in mind that enlisted have rates while officers have rank.also there are certain stripes for years of service [ 1stripe for every 4 years completed, and there different colors for this in both the navy and coast guard[ gold stripes you can wear if you have 12 years of good conduct, until you reach that point your stripes are red [ both the gold and red stipes are commonly called hash marks ] and i don't mean the ones you might find in your underwear.

if they have a star in the middle they are AF.....there are green with blue stripes for BDUs, tan with brown for DCUs, blue with white for blues, and very very dark blue with a silverish color for mess dress. basically if they look the same other than the color they are the same branch there are distinct differences between the branches.
also crazy as this sounds if you know what your looking for and they are indeed AF (not sure about other branches) but you can tell by the size of them (actual size not the number of stripes) rather they are for a male or female and if for blues which piece of the uniform they go on.

Yes, the same service can have different color rank insignia patches for different uniforms and shirts. As the previous responder suggested, post pictures. Or you can look for pictures already on web sites and match them to yours.
