There are three James in the New Testament : James, the brother of John, both sons of Zebedee (Matthew 4:21); James the son of Alphaeus (known as James the less) mentioned in Matthew 10:3; and finally James the brother of Jesus (Matthew 13:55) who was leader of the Jerusalem Church and writer of the Book of James.(He was known as Old Camelknees because of his prayer life). The first two James were part of the Twelve Disciples of Jesus.
All three are saints.
James, the brother of John was martyred early (Acts 12:2).

Orthodox Tradition states that James the son of Alphaeus (Matthew was also the son of Alphaeus) was crucufied by pagans in Egypt.

Catholic Tradition often makes James the Less and James the brother of Jesus into the same person, but this belief is not universally shared by all Christians.

James the Greater IS the son of Zebedee. Many Churches though, are named after James, brother of John, the apostle who knew Christ. There is no evidence that James the Greater ever met Christ.

Hope this helps.

Probably James, the writer of the book of James... the one right after "Hebrews"

who, believe it or not, was Jesus' younger brother.

Hope this helps.
