Hey, don't worry, that's the easiest slang to say in Brazilian Portuguese - actually, I think so. Well, there are many ways to greet someone in Brazilian Portuguese, jut because it depends on where are you (there are some expressions very popular in the South and other ones only known by those who live in the Northeast, for example) u can say "e aí?" - which means something between "aye" and "hi there" - instead of "oi, como vai você?" if you'd like to sound very informal. That's the most used anyplace here in Brazil. Everybody understand. But if you'd like to sound formal, you can use one of the following expressions: Bom dia = good morning Boa tarde = good afternoon Boa noite = good evening / good night as I told u b4 u can use regional slangs, too. They're all informal Buenas! (Rio Grande do Sul) E aí, meu? - while talking to a friend (Minas Gerais) Ôpa! (Parana) aê, tudo bem? (Rio de Janeiro) Como vai, meu rei? (Bahia) that's all I know of regional greetings ^^ there are also the less popular expressions, which u won't hear veeery often, but everybody in Brazil can understand... Hi = oi Hello = olá Although it may sound weird, here in Brazil it's very polite to ask someone "are you fine?" (e aí, tudo bem?) or "are you all right today?" (oi, beleza?). Unless other romanic languages, Portuguese has some slangs which can be used to greet someone both formal and informal ways. So, E aí, tudo bem? = are you fine? (formal / informal) Oi, beleza? = are you all right today? (formal / informal) Como vai? = how are you doing? (formal / informal) some people sum up these expressions to "beleza?" , "tudo?" or "cm vai?" in writing. Hope it helps =]

You say "Oi" like "Hello, Hi" but if you're gonna say "Hello" like on the phone, you say "Alo"
