Well you have to look at why you DO believe in God. If you were born into a family that followed a religion, you're taught that there is the God/s of that religion, and that's all there is to it.
I, for example, was brought up in a religious household but find too many faults with the reasoning behind the particular beliefs, so I cannot accept that they are true
As well, I believe that the choices I make are my own, and am not willing to believe that there is a God making me do what I do.

My kid is six years old and it would be just about impossible to convince him there is no Santa Claus, yet we know there isn't one. I think belief in God is the same, if someone truly believes it's not possible to convince them otherwise no matter what proof or lack of proof there is.
I choose not to believe because no one has given me any proof that would stand up in court otherwise. I choose not to believe some unbelievable old stories written by some guys two thousand years ago. Some of these stories contradict each other, others are ambiguous. People read into them whatever suits them at the time. None of it is proof positive of any God.

Because there is no evidence for the existence of god that can not be explained through natural means.

If i can explain existence without the need of an intelligent designer, then why postulate one exists?

I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours

I see no reason to believe in a higher power, and I have never been better!

Because I have found that every single argument I have heard for the existence of God is either faulty or lacking.

This question has now been asked 34,092 times. Yahoo spent the big bucks for a Search feature and no one uses it.

Why don't you believe in Zeus or Odin? That is exactly what I think about your god.
