Alligator mating season is supposedly April-June ... GREAT, we're in the middle of May! I am a little spooked ... should I be? And what should I do if I am attacked?

Hey---don't let anyone scare you. Be reasonable, and don't put yourself in a stupid situation (you know, don't jump in and swim with them!), and you should be fine. I just went to the Everglades last month---for 7 days, by myself, and I saw plenty of gators and crocs, but I never felt afraid of them. Have a great time!

I agree with the guy above me, never go anywhere alone. Remember Aaron Ralston!

If you ARE attacked I hope it's only a flesh wound! Make sure you have your cell phone with you... And supposedly if a gator drags you under and you play dead (go limp) he will elt go momentarily to adjust his grip but I've never been attacked so I wouldn't really know.

Good luck and enjoy your trip!

You are going to be in a kayak that is longer than most alligators get in areas that are not extremely remote. Don't worry about it and keep your hands and feet inside the 'yak.
