I just got a puppy, he's six weeks. I went to my local feed store and got the shots, one is an 8-in-1, the other a 7-in-1. Which do I give first??? (and yes, I'm a trained professional at giving shots...Own a cattle ranch and give shots all the time)

Why do people even try to answer this question if they're not answering it! I know that's it's subcutaneous! I know you give five in ones but you also have 8 inone and 7 inone. If these were so bad don't you think the frekin vet society would do something? And as long as you are trained for giving a shot, you know how to give a shot! And six weeks old is not too young to take away from a mom dog. I've been raising yorkies for seven years by myself and every single one comes out fine. Shots, no shots, worming, no worming. Just because you're not a freaking vet doesn't mean you're stupid. It doesn't take a college degree to give a shot. Common sense people. Next time just answer the frekin question instead of randomly choosing questions to get points.

it can be different for different places, here we only give puppy's a 5 way.
Just remember that the parvo shot is a "modified live virus" and MUST be kept refrigerated or it will mutate and give the dog parvo.

Do NOT give either a 7 in 1 or an 8 in 1 vaccination to a puppy (or even an adult dog) that is far too much vaccine.

A puppy also should NEVER be vaccinated before it has completed it's 7 th week and it's much prefered to be 8-9 weeks.
The only vaccines a puppy should get:
distemper/parvo/canine hepatitis/adenovirus-2.

I also want to point out that just because you are experienced at giving cattle and horses vaccinations doesn't mean you are good at giving vaccinations to a puppy. There is a difference on how they are administered.

Well that's nice. I'd give your vet a call anyway. The puppy also needs to be wormed. Feed store wormer doesn't work for all the worms either. Usually they are given in a series of three. Usually decent breeders don't let their pups go until at least 8 weeks. I think 6 weeks is too young for vaccines.

Vaccines should also be given one at a time and about 2 weeks apart to be really safe.
The current protocol used by all 27 vet schools in the U.S. is at http://www.aahanet.org .

You need to do some research on vaccines. Sounds like you have no problem passing them out like candy. READ about the new protocols set forth by the American Veterinary Association and save your pet from the abuse of over vaccination. NO 7 in ones, NO 8 in ones... Where in nature would your young puppy come into contact with so many live viruses??? NO WHERE.. Please read.

Ann dedicated her life to exposing pet food companies for what is really in dog food after losing 2 dogs to a single bag of food from a manufacturing giant. The info is startling and we still see it happening today with pet food recalls becoming more common.
