It helps if you have something or someone to check your reality against. When a person is unsure of what is reality - they would have a problem being honest with themself.

Having a friend that you talk things over with, and valuing their opinion is a great beginning.

Another place to start - is your money. For one week, keep track of every penny and dollar you spend AND where that money went. At the end of the week run some totals to see what you actually spent in each category. It will really help you to be honest with yourself.

As you practice these, other ideas will come to you on how to hold yourself accountable in other parts of your life.
