I just saw someone claim that there must be something to Christianity, because so many Christians have been willing to die for their beliefs.

Doesn't that apply to ALL religions?? I hardly need to point out that Witches and Muslims and Jews have died at least as much as Christians (percentagewise) and maybe more. I also know a fair few atheists who wouldn't convert to something they didn't believe in, even if it was to save their life.

Why do so many Christians think they are special for doing what members of EVERY religion do?

I agree with you that people have died in the name of all religions. I believe the person who made that statement must not have understood the argument completely.

I have heard it argued the Christ must have risen from the dead because of the deaths of the apostles. The were killed for believing in Christ. If they has simply renounced Christ, they would not have been killed. The argument is that they would have not knowingly died for a lie. If Christ had not risen from the dead they would have confessed it so their lives would have been spared.
