In this society, if you are a female, it is better to be thin and, unfortunately, the thinner the better. It is more important to be thin than healthy. If you are heavy, you are perceived as unattractive, sloppy, lazy and made to feel as a non-person...or at least as a person of absolutely no worth. Given the way society brands heavy people, particularly women, it is definitely better to be thin. Females are literally dying to be thin.

Want proof? Check out recent photos of models and actresses. Check out articles in print about how thin is the only thing that matters. Check out the statistics on anorexia, bulemia and death due to eating disorders. It is so important to be thin that websites promote anorexia! http://www.sixwise.com/newsletters/05/08/03/websites_that_encourage_anorexia__amp_other_eating_disorders_for_girls_popular__and_controversia.htm

In fact, check out The Thin Commandments.
“10 Thin Commandments”:
1.) If you aren't thin, then you aren't attractive.
2.) Being thin is more important than being healthy.
3.) You must buy clothes, cut your hair, take laxatives, starve yourself, do anything to make yourself look thinner.
4.) Thou shall not eat without feeling guilty.
5.) Thou shall not eat fattening food without punishing oneself afterward.
6.) Thou shall count calories and restrict intake accordingly.
7.) What the scale says is the most important thing.
8.) Losing weight is good; gaining weight is bad.
9.) You can never be too thin.
10.) Being thin and not eating are signs of true will power and success.

The motto is: Hunger hurts but starvation works!

I can only hope that someday society won't put such an unrealistic burden on our females. That females won't hear via media, Hollywood and men that they have to be thin to be attractive or accepted. Maybe then, we won't lose so many lives needlessly.
