are there any Christian missions organizations in which the missionary doesn't have to raise his or her own support?

The answer is yes. Aside from the missionaries on the local church level who do have to raise funds, there are larger missionary organizations who focus on the funding of their missions so that missionaries can concentrate on their call and the demands of the calling in the field. I've been a missionary for just such an organization for 28 years and they handle the funding. While it is true, you appreciate your calling even more if you have to work toward it, but there are additional avenues to serving in missions without peddling. I only solicit from large companies to provide materials to nationals while already in the mission locale. Additionally, there are churches who sponsor me either because they want to support what I'm doing or there are churches that I have already planted and visit on a regular basis that offer support with a (non-obligatory) love offering. The litmus test is, if your calling is truly of God, then your support will come from God. I end with - if you feel inclined, do some research on the international mission organizations that mount the kind of outreach you feel your calling is leading you toward. God bless!

None! Mission requires a lot of funding thus the churches depend on members and benefactors to support the missions. Today to run charitable institutions from Churches to clinics and schools need a TON of money! Thus the organizations and foundations have their own strategies to raise the required funds to sustain and support the missions.

A mission is something which the person feels needs to be accomplished. If you feel like you need to do something like go to the grocery store, do homework, or answer your question, that is a simple mission. I have met several people whom are called by God to go to another country where they could be killed. Their christian mission is to feed the hungry, or bring medical care to a country which is riddled with hiv/aids virus, yet God sent them and they might never be financailly rich, they will become spiritually satisfied for doing what God placed on their hearts. God has protected the ones I have met so far. Mathew 28:18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying," All power is given unto me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to oblerve all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. God will always provide what ever needs be financial or abilities to bless even non christians.

some churches support their own missionaries or have their own missions group. I don't think I can actually give names though.

I think Southern Baptists, but I am not sure. Most churches I know of have missionaries that raise their own support.

There may be some, but I am unsure. If you are worried about not raising enough money, then you can send letters, do chores, or numerous other things. It makes it more of a mission if you have to work for the money.

Yes, the Catholics do not raise their own support. They do eventually try to contribute but, the majority of it usually comes from their headquarters for their order or private donations. Mother Theresa tried to set the people themselves up for self reliance and was very successful ( I am referring to her town full of lepers). The missionaries themselves though generally take vows of poverty so they really do not need much at all, just what it takes to do their work for the poor.

I am involved with a missions group... and although we raise our own funds... we are currently beginning to send out grants to fund all annual trips, which would then reduce the self fundraising efforts. I'll keep ya posted, if interested.

Actually yes there are, but they are usually affiliated with a particular denomination. For instance, I have missionary friends who belong to Church of the Nazarene and they fully support all of their missionaries.

hi Nightlife :-) it is an quite stable undertaking. Happiness is subjective, so basically you may tell in case you have unquestionably stumbled on it. the only element is, i might say to not pass consciously searching for it, because of the fact which you will constantly be searching for some thing greater ideal and you will on no account be happy. authentic happiness generally sneaks up on human beings, in basic terms take issues as they arrive and you'd be superb. Optimism performs a huge area in this actual undertaking too, so save an open concepts...
