It depends on what state you are in. You will have to pay sales tax to the state government where you live. You will have to pay for the license plates and title. You will have to pay a fee to the transfer agent.

The fees are the same regardless of where you buy your vehicle. Whether it's a dealer or your next door neighbor you will still pay the taxes, the charges to transfer the title, and the registration fees.

Well, as long as the registration isn't expired you shouldn't have to pay on it at all. You'll have to pay to get the title transfered into your name and it's based on how much you paid on the car, but you can say you paid very little for it to lessen the charges.
