Mainly my used dishwasher but also for future reference a frig, micowave and oven. I would like to donate them but the salvation army won't take the dishwasher and I'm not sure who else to ask. I also don't want to pay a junk collector to pick it up.

Join your local Freecycle. They're a group that offer their goods that they don't want any more to anyone who wishes to pick them up. The purpose is to get more use out of the items, rather than throw them in the landfill.

Most junk dealers will pay you for your old stuff.
Some appliance repair places will accept your
old appliances or buy them from you. You could always advertise in the classifieds and sell them
if they are still in working order. If they do not work and you want to get rid of them call your local
garbage collecting company and ask if they pick
up old appliances and on what day.

Try www.craigslist.org - if you're not already a craig's list user, you will be. It's totally free, and it goes by geographic area - i believe there's a category called ' free items' you can post it in there.

Another thing to try is to call one of those 2nd hand shops, and see if they'll take them, chances are if your appliances are still working, they'll make the effort to pick it up!

If the salvation army won't take them then try goodwill, or call your local area churches and see if they/ anyone they kniow has use for them. We have a Catholic Social Services where I am from and they take a lot of stuff too.

Put your dishwasher out in the front of your house in the driveway and put a sign on " Free " I'm sure someone will come along and pick it up, they did mine!
