As a Seventh Day Adventist, I don't mind telling you that yes, it does matter what day we go on. It's the only day in the bible, and even the Qur'an points back to the scriptures, which existed in the 6th century at the time of the Qur'an.
Honestly, it does seem odd to me as well, and if I had to guess the pastor may have heard that you were coming or that someone else happened to have came on that same sabbath that weren't members either.
Please don't take one man's perspective to point to some fault we have, which I appreciate you not doing here. I assure you, there are many powerful things, including the sabbath, to change anyone's perspective of the world in the bible.

That might have been one of the lesson that they taught for the day.
I'm not a SDA but,
Yes,The bible reveals that God blessed and set apart (sanctified) the seventh day. This day is holy unto God, and it is the only day of the week that we are commanded to honor. "Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation: ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings." (Lev 23:3). A holy convocation is an assembly of the people of God, who come together to worship him.
There are two calendars that exist. God's calendar and man's calendar; both consist of seven day weeks. The difference in the two calendars is, that God has named the days with numbers, and man has given the days names. God's calendar begins with day 1 and ends with day 7, his weekly sabbath. Man's calendar names day 1 as, Sunday, and ends with Saturday, day 7, God's weekly sabbath. Although man's calendar is universal ( the same all over the world) the majority of professed Christians worship the Lord on Sunday which is clearly the 1st day of the week not the 7th day that the Lord has hallowed, sanctified and commanded that we keep.

Yes; I am a Seventh-Day Adventist, and yes, it is very important to God which day of the week you worship on. Sunday is the false Sabbath that was created by human traditions. The seventh day, Saturday, was created, blessed and permanently sanctified by God at Creation. The day that you worship on tells the world whom you choose to worship. God or human tradition?
We do have sermons like this quite often, but more often than not it is for the benefit of new members and those who just "stroll in", but also for the edification of older members.

basically a pair issues. #a million I unquestionably have on no account heard Adventist's boast of length, yet somewhat celebrate in the actuality that greater individuals are coming to understand Jesus as their very own very own saviour. the appealing element is... it is not related to the numbers. In Jesus' day, the MASS of believers have been lifeless incorrect, and maximum of them on no account had a private courting with their Saviour. #2 Paul and Jesus the two observed. Agreat "falling away" first. #3 the great deal is this.... Does any church declare that their Church has authority OVER the Bible? The BIBLE is the authority, not the Church. And we would desire to hearken to with open hearts what Jesus reported in the Bible, from conceal to conceal. actuality is... we've ignored God's regulation. there is not any much less perplexing replaced into to assert it. think of related to the Sabbath... replaced into the Sabbath Jewish? Why replaced into it there 2500 years till now the 1st Jew? (Genesis 2:2, 3) Why does God say we can worship on the Sabbath in heaven? (Isaiah sixty six:22, 23) study Daniel 2, 7, 8 and then study Revelation 13 Revelation 13 is the authentic comparable element as Daniel 7, yet they pass hand in hand. understand those mysteries and you will discover your solutions.

Saturday is the sabbath, but keeping it holy will in no way get you to Heaven. That's not human philosophy either. That's new testament fact.Jesus kept the sabbath holy, only because (he) had too, because he was without sin.Working on Saturday is not going to get you sent to hell any quicker or slower than any other sin. We're human. We were saturated with sin from birth.Turning our lives over to Christ is the only way to Heaven.Already been down this road once before with another adventist.Adventist's,if I'm not mistaken, believe only in the old testament.I might be wrong about that, but I don't think I am.
Have a great day.

It's as if the Franklin Planner was a third testament to them. But what astounds me is that they demand to know where in the New Testament Saturday turned to Sunday. It's not in there because the Church didn't change the practice until 150 AD. At that time THERE WAS NO NEW TESTAMENT.
The New Testament was not officially recognized as scripture until 380-419 AD.

One of God's commandments are to keep and honor the sabbath as a holy day. The Sabbath is Saturday, the seventh day of the week. God is said to have rested on the seventh day.

We can call our self as a christian, and do whatever we want and still a christian. We don't have to follow the bible, and still we can call our self a christian. We can claim we know God well , but do God know us?? That's matter. And God gave us Sabbath to be a sign between God and us. The choice is in your hand. GBU

think about it this way: you love your wife very much, you are married. why did you marry her? becoz you love her right. why didn't you just love but not marry her? why didn't you love her but have affairs with others? the answer to all this questions is simple. it is the proof that you love her. it is the samewith adventists, we observe the sabbath becouse god gave us the choice of loving him or not. to prove our love for him we observe avery special day as the sabbath day was the day on which he rested and so is special to him just like youe wedding annavesary. if christians really love god they would obey his commandments and that is why adventists promote the sabbath day

I'm Catholic but went to a SDA high school.
Yes, it is a big deal to them. They have a prophet, Ellen G. White. She had a vision where she saw a light around the 4th commandment. This is the reason they began to worship on Saturday. They are very sure that Sunday worship is wrong. Of course there is a multitude of scripture and tradition to counter that.
But I guess it's their thing.
